(All methods are based on *Bao Sheng Mi Yao* (Secrets of Preserving Life), written by Cao Shiheng, courtesy name Yuanbai, a Daoist priest named Yuyu Daoren from the Ming Dynasty.)
Generally, people lose their mindfulness and rush about in worldly affairs, failing to turn back and reflect, largely because they do not know their true self. However, when first entering the path of cultivation, or initially beginning to treat illness, it is often said that one must first "build the foundation and refine the self" (Zhuji Lianji). Why? The character "Ji" (己) corresponds to Earth within the intention (Yi), requiring one to constantly return the mind and guard the central palace (Zhonggong). From the Kunlun point to the Yongquan point, the apertures throughout the body's front and back vary in transmission among different schools, each selecting its strengths. If one can precisely guard just one, it can cure illness; there is no need to desire one while possessing another, holding a hesitant view, and debating which is right and which is wrong. My secret says: In short, gather the mind into unity and focus on one place; this can stop distracting thoughts. Therefore, I select two posterior apertures in the body as the standard, returning to the origin to utilize the initial qi received at conception, the source capable of gathering qi, moving the Microcosmic Orbit (Xiaozhoutian), which can reference the effect of Genbei Tongguan (opening passages via the Back). However, the Genbei method was most elucidated by Linzi Chanjiao in the past; I received a more exquisite quick method through family transmission. As for movement, it penetrates the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) and Du Mai (Governing Vessel), combined with Dao Yin (guiding and pulling exercises), and miraculous efficacy will become apparent.
[Guixuan Jueqiao (Secret of Returning to the Origin)] Guixuan refers to the moment of initial qi reception at conception, when the umbilical cord is cut, and a single point of qi takes root in the Yuanhai (Sea of Qi). After birth, carving by emotions and desires inevitably leads to the consumption of essence and scattering of qi, preventing a return to the origin. One must seek the method of An Tu Dun Ren (Stabilizing Earth and Cultivating Benevolence). "Tu" (Earth) means returning to the origin; "Ren" (Person/Human) means benevolence. Using a single point of benevolent heart, cultivate it thickly within Earth, so that the Six Roots (senses) all return to the Yuanhai. With the mind focused, after long periods of condensation and stability, one feels the True Seed (Zhenzhong) always present, only then can intention be used for operation. The practice method involves lifting the intention upward, manipulating creation, moving from left to right, first rotating the Umbilical Wheel (Qilun), contracting and releasing, releasing and contracting, to return to the original position. Not departing from this, the thought naturally returns to truth.
[Zhou Tian (Microcosmic Orbit)] First establish An Tu Shou Zhong (Stabilizing Earth and Guarding the Center); once the secret is mastered, then perform Zhou Tian circulation to flow through the whole body and dissipate stagnant qi in the four limbs. The method begins by rotating at the Qilun, expanding from small to large, then contracting from large to small, ascending step by step to the Xuanji point, circling down the left arm to the Quchi point, passing through the Neiguan point to the palm and fingertips, circling out to the Waiguan point on the back of the hand, then up behind the elbow to the Jianjing point, and down to the Dazhui point, then moving to the Weilv point. From there, it goes down again over the Yuzhen point, passes Kunlun, the Niwang Palace, the face, ascends to the Queqiao (Bridge of Magpies), descends through the Chonglou (Throat), reaches the stomach opening, passes the navel, to the Yuzhu, returns to the Qihai, travels down the right leg, passing the Xiguan point, piercing the dorsum of the foot through the Xielao point to the fingertips, turning to the Yongquan point behind the heel, ascending over the Yinggu point, connecting to the Weilv, circling again to the Dingmen (Top of Head), descending like before to the Queqiao, sequentially sending the left leg, similar to the right method landing at Yongquan, then ascending to Niwang and the Xuanji point, moving right, following the left hand's path around the shoulder and back, penetrating Kunlun and descending to gather at the Yuanhai. Thus, the meridians of the whole body are unblocked and smooth, slowly turning back. When intention arrives, qi follows; this is the Youzuo Zhou Tian Fa (Method of Microcosmic Orbit with Action), which can also participate in the workings of Creation.
