Dun Shi (Escaping Corpse) refers to pathogenic factors lingering between the muscles and blood vessels of the human body. If suddenly provoked or touched, it will flare up. It also causes distension, fullness, and stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, rapid breathing and asthma, pain radiating to both hypochondria, and upward rushing to the chest and heart. After recovery, it tends to relapse, with pathogenic factors lingering without dissipating; hence it is called Dun Shi (Escaping Corpse).
Chen Shi (Sinking Corpse), when flaring up, also presents with severe colic in the heart and abdomen, distension, fullness, and rapid breathing/asthma, with Qi rushing to the chest and heart and attacking the hypochondriac and rib areas. Although symptoms may subside after an interval, the pathogenic factors still sink deeply into the Zang-Fu organs, causing discomfort and aversion throughout the four limbs; hence it is called Chen Shi (Sinking Corpse).
Feng Shi (Wind Corpse) resides in the four limbs, circulating through the meridians. Its manifestation is: wandering back and forth, silent and obscure, with no specific location of pain known; if exposed to wind, this condition is triggered.
Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission Disease) is the Shi Zhu among the Five Corpses, accompanied by external ghostly evil Qi flowing and accumulating throughout the body. It causes alternating chills and fever, dripping sensations, silence and obscurity, uncertainty about the specific source of suffering, yet a sense of aversion everywhere. It may present with abdominal pain, distension, rapid breathing, inability to breathe normally, Qi rushing upward to the chest and heart, and radiating to both hypochondria; or lumps protruding; or spasms pulling on the waist and spine; or heaviness of the whole body, confused spirit, dizziness, and delirium. Whenever solar terms change, severe deterioration often occurs. Accumulating over months and years, it gradually leads to stagnation and debility, resulting in death. After death, the disease may transfer to others nearby, even wiping out an entire household. Because this corpse disease transmits and infects others, it is called Shi Zhu (Corpse Transmission).
Fu Shi (Hidden Corpse) refers to disease hidden within the five Zang organs, persisting for years without removal. Before onset, the body is balanced and harmonious, appearing as if free from illness; once activated, it causes stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, distension, fullness, and rapid breathing/asthma. Decoctions, moxibustion/warming therapies, acupuncture, and stone needles have separate specific formulas for treatment. Tonification, nourishment, and Daoyin (guiding and pulling) exercises are attached below.
The *Yangsheng Fang* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) states: Clench teeth fourteen times, then swallow Qi fourteen times; repeat this three hundred cycles before stopping. Practicing for twenty days eliminates all evil Qi; sixty days cure minor illnesses; one hundred days eliminate major illnesses, remove all Fu Shi (Hidden Corpses), and restore luster to the face and body.
Yin Shi (Yin Corpse) arises from constitutional deficiency allowing external pathogens to invade, clashing with Yin Qi, leading to congestion and accumulation of Yang Qi. The initial presentation begins inside the skin, suddenly forming a lump resembling a toad. After one night, it clashes with internal corpse worms, growing to the size of a cup, moving and causing pulling pain that is unbearable. This is often contracted during rainy weather; after several days without...
