The manifestations of the disease include swelling of the yin organ (scrotum or external genitalia), which may subside temporarily at times, but ultimately remains larger than normal. It tends to flare up due to fatigue, cold exposure, or rainy weather. Upon onset, the swelling increases, causing stiffness and tightness in the lower back and body, aversion to cold, and heaviness in the bone joints. This condition arises from damage to the Kidney. The Foot-Shaoyin Meridian is the meridian of the Kidney; its Qi flows downward to the yin region. The yin region is where numerous meridians converge and accumulates Yin Qi. Fatigue and heavy lifting injure the Foot-Shaoyin Meridian, causing its Qi to rush downward to the yin area. Qi distension and obstruction result in this pathology. Treatments involving herbal decoctions, hot compresses, acupuncture, and stone therapy have separate specific formulas. Tonifying nourishment and Daoyin (guiding and pulling) exercises are attached hereafter.
The *Yangsheng Fang* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) · *Daoyin Fa* (Methods of Guiding and Pulling) states: Lie supine with arms and legs extended straight. Focus the mind on the location of the Bao Gong (Uterus/Bladder area), visualizing it as red like cinnabar wrapped in oil. This method eliminates dampness below the yin, difficult urination, prolapse of the rectum, and a sensation of heaviness and difficulty in defecation in the lower abdomen. If there is heat in the abdomen, inhale through the mouth and exhale through the nose, repeating dozens of times without swallowing the Qi in small gulps. If warmth is felt in the abdomen after seven breaths, swallow the Qi ten or more times.
"Various Hemorrhoids" refer to Mu Hemorrhoids (external hemorrhoids), Pin Hemorrhoids (internal hemorrhoids), Mai Hemorrhoids (vascular hemorrhoids), Chang Hemorrhoids (intestinal hemorrhoids), and Xue Hemorrhoids (bleeding hemorrhoids). Their respective morphological signs and symptoms are detailed in the following chapter. There is also Jiu Hemorrhoid (Alcohol-induced Hemorrhoid), characterized by sores around the anus accompanied by bleeding. There is also Qi Hemorrhoid, characterized by difficult defecation with bleeding, and prolapse of the anus that fails to retract for a long time.
All types of hemorrhoids result from wind invasion, imprudent sexual activity, coitus while intoxicated and full, leading to disturbance of Blood and Qi. Overflowing blood leaks into the intestines and impacts the lower part. One formula treats all these conditions, named "Zhu Zhi" (Various Hemorrhoids Formula); it does not imply that various diseases combine to form a single hemorrhoid. If hemorrhoids persist and do not heal, they transform into fistulas. Treatments involving herbal decoctions, hot compresses, acupuncture, and stone therapy have separate specific formulas. Tonifying nourishment and Daoyin exercises are attached hereafter.
The *Yangsheng Fang* states: Forcing the retention of stool for a long time leads to Qi Hemorrhoid.
The *Yangsheng Fang* · *Daoyin Fa* states: Stand with one foot flat on the ground and the other knee bent. Embrace the area below Dubi (ST35) with both hands, pull forcefully towards the body to the extreme limit. Alternate left and right, performing 4x7 (28) repetitions. This eliminates hemorrhoids, Wu Lao (Five Exhausions), and stagnation of Qi at Sanli (ST36).
It further states: Sit in a squatting position with knees together and feet spread apart. Hold the breath twice. This treats the Five Hemorrhoids.
It further states: Embrace the feet with both hands, keeping the head still. Direct the feet toward the mouth and face to receive Qi, allowing the Qi of the joints to disperse, moving back and forth for 3x7 (21) cycles. To grasp the feet, turn the body sideways to the left and right, pulling forcefully each time, while keeping the waist immobile. This eliminates cold in the marrow of the limbs and upper/lower waist, cold in the blood vessels, stiffness and oppression of the sinews, and hemorrhoids.
It further states: Place the two feet against each other, contracting forcefully towards the yin end. Cup the knees with both hands and press outward to the extreme limit, completing 2x7 (14) cycles. Take postures leaning to the sides, left and right, completing another 2x7 (14) cycles. Push the waist forward and backward seven times. This eliminates Xin Lao (Heart Exhaustion) and hemorrhoidal diseases.
