Ascaris (Pinworm) is one of the nine types of parasites. Its body is extremely small, resembling modern midge larvae. It is also triggered by the weakness of the fu and zang organs; in severe cases, it may result in hemorrhoids, rectal prolapse, scrotal swelling, or scabies.
Taenia (Tapeworm) is also one of the nine types of parasites. It is about one cun long, white in color, and short and flat in shape. It arises due to the weakness of the fu and zang organs. Some say that drinking white wine, eating beef roasted on mulberry branches, or consuming food made from raw millet can cause this disease. Others claim that drinking milk and cheese after eating raw fish can also generate these worms. When active, they deplete the person's essence and qi, causing pain and weakness in the waist and legs.
It is also said that if this worm grows to a chi in length, the person will die.
Rectal prolapse refers to the protrusion of the anus. The anus is the external manifestation of the large intestine. In children, rectal prolapse often occurs due to diarrhea causing coldness and deficiency in the large intestine, combined with straining during defecation, leading to the prolapse of the anus, known as rectal prolapse.
Hernia (Shan Qi) refers to the swelling of the scrotum due to the knotting of qi. In children, this condition often results from prolonged crying and anger causing stagnant qi, which disturbs the yin qi. The impact on the yin qi leads to stagnation and accumulation that does not disperse.
Lateral Hernia (Pian Shan) refers to unilateral swelling of the scrotum. This is also caused by crying and anger leading to rebellious qi impacting the lower body. The unilateral swelling occurs because excess qi moves into the deficient side and accumulates there.
When a person has disharmony between blood and qi, an odor resembling that of a wild fox emanates from the axilla, known as Fox Odor (Hu Chou). This odor can be transmitted to others. Children often contract this from their caregivers who already have the condition.
The five zang organs correspond to five vocalizations; the sound of the heart is speech. If a child aged four or five cannot speak, it is because during the fetal stage, the mother experienced sudden fright or terror, which internally disturbed the fetus's organs. Pathogenic qi invaded the heart, causing disharmony of heart qi, resulting in the inability to speak until age four or five.
The manifestation of Qi Goiter (Qi Ying) involves loose skin below the neck with internal nodules protruding, feeling soft, and gradually enlarging. This is formed by the knotting of qi. When a child cries incessantly and is fed milk, it causes panting and rebellious qi that cannot dissipate, leading to the formation of a goiter.
If the care of infants is improper and they are injured by cold, cold qi enters the abdomen and accumulates due to deficiency. Later, due to irregular temperature of breast milk or food, the existing cold is triggered and clashes with qi without dispersing. Staying in the chest and hypochondriac region, this causes fullness and pain.
