人有两鬓之中忽然生疽，红肿高突数寸，头面眼鼻俱浮，其状不堪，异乎平常
相貌，此阳毒也。盖两鬓近于太阳，乃阳之位也，阴气不能到此部位，故两鬓生疽，
当作阳症治之。然是阳症，往往有变为阴症者，所以阳药中必加入阴分之药，以豫
防其害。若已溃破腐，更须阴药多于阳药，消息而善治之也。今有一方，名曰理鬓
汤，治未溃已溃，未烂已烂，无不收功。方用∶
金银花（三两） 白芷（二钱） 川芎（一两） 当归（一两） 夏枯草（三钱）水煎服。未溃者二剂
即消，已溃者四剂全愈。
此方用金银花、夏枯草以解火毒，用白芷、川芎以引入两鬓太阳之间，则金银
花、夏枯草更得施其祛逐之功。又妙在当归之补气血，阴阳双益，正足而邪自难变，
安得不速愈哉。
人之唇上生疔疮者，或在口角之旁，或在上下唇之际，不必论其大小，大约皆
脾胃之火毒也。最宜速散，否则毒瓦斯炽炎，必且艰于饮食，往往有腐烂而死者。疔
疮毒愈小而愈横也。治法宜急泄其火毒，而又不可损伤脾胃之气，则毒不难散矣。
方用救唇汤∶
紫花地丁（一两） 金银花（一两） 白果（二十个） 桔梗（三钱） 生甘草（三钱）
知母（一钱） 水煎服。一剂而疼痛止，二剂疮口消，三剂全愈。若已腐烂者，五剂自然奏功。
此方治头面上之疔疮俱可获效，而治口唇之疔更能神验。此方有白果、桔梗善
走唇口，引金银花、紫花地丁至于生疮之处，一概尽去其毒也。
有人两鬓之间忽然长出疽疮，红肿高突达数寸，头面、眼睛、鼻子都浮肿，形态难看，与平常相貌不同，这是阳毒。因为两鬓靠近太阳经，属于阳气所在之位，阴气不能到达这个部位，所以两鬓生疽，应当作为阳症来治疗。然而这种阳症，往往有转变为阴症的，所以在用阳药时，必须加入阴分的药物，以预防其危害。如果已经溃破腐烂，更需要阴药多于阳药，斟酌病情并妥善治疗。现在有一方，名叫理鬓汤，治疗未溃已溃、未烂已烂的病症，无不取得疗效。方剂组成：金银花（三两）、白芷（二钱）、川芎（一两）、当归（一两）、夏枯草（三钱），水煎服。未溃破者服用两剂即可消散，已溃破者服用四剂完全痊愈。
此方用金银花、夏枯草来解除火毒，用白芷、川芎将药力引入两鬓太阳经之间，这样金银花、夏枯草更能发挥祛逐病邪的功效。又妙在当归能补益气血，阴阳双补，正气充足则邪气自然难以变化，怎么能不迅速痊愈呢？
人的嘴唇上长疔疮的，有的在口角旁边，有的在上下唇之间，不论其大小，大都是脾胃的火毒所致。最宜迅速消散，否则毒气炽盛炎上，必然导致饮食困难，往往有因腐烂而死亡的。疔疮的毒势越小反而越猖獗。治疗方法应当急泄其火毒，而又不可损伤脾胃之气，那么毒邪就不难消散了。方剂用救唇汤：紫花地丁（一两）、金银花（一两）、白果（二十个）、桔梗（三钱）、生甘草（三钱）、知母（一钱），水煎服。一剂后疼痛停止，二剂后疮口消退，三剂后完全痊愈。如果已经腐烂的，五剂自然见效。
此方治疗头面上的疔疮都可获得疗效，而治疗口唇的疔疮更是神奇灵验。此方中有白果、桔梗善于走向唇口，引导金银花、紫花地丁到达生疮之处，一并清除那里的毒邪。
There are cases where a carbuncle (a deep-seated skin infection) suddenly appears between the two temples, with redness and swelling protruding several inches high. The head, face, eyes, and nose all become edematous, presenting an unsightly appearance unlike one's usual countenance; this is classified as Yang Toxicity (Yang Du). Since the temples are close to the Taiyang meridian (the Bladder channel governing the exterior), which is the domain of Yang Qi, Yin Qi cannot reach this area. Therefore, carbuncles arising in the temples should be treated as Yang syndromes. However, such Yang syndromes often transform into Yin syndromes; thus, when administering Yang-promoting herbs, Yin-nourishing herbs must be added to prevent adverse outcomes. If the lesion has already ulcerated and putrefied, Yin herbs should outweigh Yang herbs, requiring careful adjustment and proper management. There is now a prescription named Libin Decoction (Li Bin Tang), which achieves success whether the carbuncle is un-ulcerated or ulcerated, un-putrid or putrid. The formula consists of: Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua, *Lonicerae Japonicae Flos*, 3 liang), Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi, *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix*, 2 qian), Szechuan Lovage Root (Chuanxiong, *Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma*, 1 liang), Chinese Angelica Root (Danggui, *Angelicae Sinensis Radix*, 1 liang), Prunella Spike (Xiakucao, *Prunellae Spica*, 3 qian). Decoct in water and take orally. For un-ulcerated cases, resolution occurs after two doses; for ulcerated cases, complete recovery follows four doses.
This formula uses Honeysuckle Flower and Prunella Spike to resolve Fire-Toxicity, while Angelica Dahurica and Szechuan Lovage Root guide the medicinal action into the region of the Taiyang meridian at the temples, thereby enhancing the dispelling efficacy of Honeysuckle Flower and Prunella Spike. Furthermore, the brilliance lies in Chinese Angelica Root’s ability to tonify Qi and Blood, benefiting both Yin and Yang. When righteous Qi is sufficient, pathogenic factors find it difficult to alter their nature, ensuring rapid recovery.
Carbuncles (Ding Chuang, hard and painful nodules) appearing on the lips may occur beside the corners of the mouth or between the upper and lower lips. Regardless of size, they are generally caused by Fire-Toxicity of the Spleen and Stomach. It is crucial to disperse them quickly; otherwise, the toxic vapors will blaze fiercely, leading to difficulty in eating, and often resulting in death due to putrefaction. The smaller the carbuncle, the more rampant its toxicity tends to be. The treatment method should urgently drain the Fire-Toxicity without damaging the Qi of the Spleen and Stomach, making it easy to dissipate the toxin. The prescribed formula is Jiulip Decoction (Jiu Lip Tang): Purple Violets Herb (Zihuadiding, *Violae Herba*, 1 liang), Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua, *Lonicerae Japonicae Flos*, 1 liang), Ginkgo Seed (Baiguo, *Ginkgonis Semen*, 20 pieces), Platycodon Root (Jiegeng, *Platycodonis Radix*, 3 qian), Raw Licorice Root (Sheng Gancao, *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*, 3 qian), Anemarrhena Rhizome (Zhimu, *Anemarrhenae Rhizoma*, 1 qian). Decoct in water and take orally. Pain ceases after one dose, the wound shrinks after two doses, and full recovery is achieved after three doses. In cases where putrefaction has already occurred, effectiveness is naturally observed after five doses.
This formula is effective for carbuncles on the head and face, but is particularly miraculous for those on the lips and mouth. It contains Ginkgo Seed and Platycodon Root, which have a strong affinity for traveling to the lips and mouth, guiding Honeysuckle Flower and Purple Violets Herb to the site of the lesion to comprehensively eliminate the toxicity.
