To recognize "Dou Di Feng" (Dou Bottom Wind) in the world: severe redness and swelling in the chest and heart region. If accompanied by phlegm obstruction in the throat, acupuncture and herbs will fail, and life will end.
This condition initially presents with dysphagia, but redness and swelling in the chest gradually extend to the Jiehou (Laryngeal prominence). It causes acute discomfort. If swallowing water is still possible at the onset, it is treatable. First, apply Jiaoyao (Corner Medicine) mixed with a small amount of Mofeng Gao (Wind-Moving Ointment), blended with cold well water, and hold in the mouth to extract phlegm. Second, perform Kaifenglu Zhen (Opening the Wind Path Acupuncture). "Kaifenglu Zhen" refers to needling specific acupoints to open the pathway for wind pathogenic factors obstructed in the throat, allowing them to exit. Third, blow Bingpeng San (Ice and Borax Powder) into the throat. Fourth, use Zidi Tang (Purple Earth Decoction). If the disease progresses urgently, making decoctions impossible to swallow, with generalized body pain, panting, inability to sleep, pain radiating downward along the chest wall like walking under a roof, and persistent redness and swelling in the chest, even after expectorating phlegm, it is virtually untreatable. If bluish veins appear on the chest at the very beginning, use Popen Zhen (Skin-Breaking Needle, i.e., Pi Zhen / Lancet) to prick around the edges of the bluish veins; immediate effect is expected.
Shu Fu Shi stated: This condition should be treated with Xionghuang Jiedu Wan (Realgar Detoxification Pill) taken orally, and Chilin San (Red Unicorn Powder) blown into the throat.
