连砂散配制巴豆吹之，倘成脓黄熟者，用代针散吹之，出脓血而愈。重则煎剂中，下加
黄连、犀角，上加赤芍、柴胡，双蛾则兼用之。大便不通，宜加枳壳、元明粉，服下少顷，候大
便通利，则症自愈。至三四日，看喉内，但有红肿而无白星者，即是喉痈也。
八味薄荷散，连砂散加制巴豆吹之。治喉肿甚痛，用七味僵蚕散、甘遂散，入制巴豆频
吹。如重，并服煎剂，用犀角地黄汤加减，并服膏丸。如大便秘结，加大黄、元明粉，如小便不
利，加六一散。【谔按∶余治喉症，用全栝蒌同元明粉打，生枳壳同风化硝打，辄效。后遇
药肆某君，谓余曰∶风化硝与元明粉，即一种，何以本草别为二种？其主治又不同，故志于
此，以质世之博雅，究竟同乎异乎？】
用喉癣方频吹，百草膏，不时频咽，再服煎剂，内加土贝母。下气，忌忧思忿怒酒色，
并鸡虾蟹羊鹅，猪首肝肠，一切毒物炙爆，及引气动火之物，守戒一月，可愈。【谔按∶土贝母
用连砂散加重，即用甘遂散吹之，亦须频咽百草膏，兼用煎剂，不可间断。又用噙化丸
吞化亦妙，或七味僵蚕散，八味薄荷散吹之，先将山慈菇汁搽上，然后吹药，则效速。【谔按∶
山慈菇可研末，和入吹药中吹之，则简便而取效则一也，惟分两宜轻。】
将连砂散配制巴豆粉吹入患处，如果已经形成黄熟色的脓液，则使用代针散吹入，排出脓血后即可痊愈。病情较重者，在煎剂中加入黄连、犀角，上方加入赤芍、柴胡，双蛾（双侧扁桃体红肿）则同时使用这些药物。若大便不通畅，宜加入枳壳、元明粉，服用片刻后，待大便通畅，症状自然自愈。到了第三四天，观察喉内情况，只有红肿而没有白色星点状物的是喉痈。
八味薄荷散，是在连砂散基础上加入制巴豆粉吹入。治疗喉部肿胀且疼痛剧烈者，使用七味僵蚕散、甘遂散，加入制巴豆频繁吹入。如果病情严重，并服用煎剂，使用犀角地黄汤加减，并服用膏丸。如果大便秘结，加大黄、元明粉；如果小便不利，加六一散。【谔按：我治疗喉症时，用全瓜蒌同元明粉捣碎，生枳壳同风化硝捣碎，往往见效。后来遇到药铺某君，对我说：风化硝与元明粉，是一种东西，为什么本草书中将其分为两种？它们的主治功效又不同，因此记录在此，以向世上的博学之士请教，究竟它们是相同还是不同？】
使用喉癣方频繁吹入，百草膏不时频繁吞咽，再服用煎剂，内部加入土贝母。需下气（顺气），忌忧思、愤怒、饮酒、色欲，以及鸡肉、虾、蟹、羊肉、鹅肉，猪头、肝、肠，一切有毒之物、油炸爆炒食物，以及引气动火的食物，遵守禁忌一个月，可以痊愈。【谔按：土贝母……】

Apply Liansha San (Cinnamon Sand Powder) compounded with prepared Croton seed (Zhi Ban Dou, 制巴豆) by insufflation into the affected area. If yellowish and ripe pus has formed, apply Daizhen San (Needle Replacement Powder) by insufflation; once pus and blood are discharged, recovery will ensue. In severe cases, add Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian, 黄连) and Rhinoceros Horn (Xijiao, 犀角) to the decoction, and add Red Peony Root (Chishao, 赤芍) and Bupleurum Root (Chaihu, 柴胡) to the upper formulation; for bilateral tonsillar swelling (Shuang E, 双蛾), use both simultaneously. If bowel movement is obstructed, add Aurantium Fructus (Zhike, 枳壳) and Natrii Sulfas (Yuanmingfen, 元明粉); shortly after administration, once bowel movement becomes unobstructed, symptoms will resolve spontaneously. By the third or fourth day, observe the interior of the throat: if there is only redness and swelling without white star-like spots, it is a throat abscess (Hou Yong, 喉痈).
Bawei Bohe San (Eight-Ingredient Mint Powder) is Liansha San compounded with prepared Croton seed (Zhi Ban Dou, 制巴豆) for insufflation. It treats severe throat swelling with intense pain. For such cases, apply Qiwei Jiangcan San (Seven-Ingredient Silkworm Powder) and Gansui San (Kansui Powder), compounded with prepared Croton seed (Zhi Ban Dou, 制巴豆), frequently by insufflation. In severe cases, administer decoctions modified from Paeonia Decoction with Rhinoceros Horn (Xijiao Dihuang Tang, 犀角地黄汤), along with pastes and pills. If constipation occurs, add Rhubarb Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, 大黄) and Natrii Sulfas (Yuanmingfen, 元明粉); if urination is difficult, add Liuyi San (Six-to-One Powder). [Editor's Note: When I treat throat disorders, I crush whole Trichosanthes Fruit (Quan Gualou, 全栝蒌) with Natrii Sulfas (Yuanmingfen, 元明粉), and crush raw Aurantium Fructus (Sheng Zhike, 生枳壳) with Fungusified Saltpeter (Fenghua Xiao, 风化硝), which often proves effective. Later, a certain gentleman from a pharmacy told me: "Fungusified Saltpeter and Natrii Sulfas are the same substance; why does the Materia Medica classify them as two different types? Their therapeutic indications also differ. I record this here to consult learned scholars of the world: are they identical or distinct?" ]
Apply Hou Xuan Fang (Throat Lichen Formula) frequently by insufflation, swallow Baicao Gao (Hundred Herbs Paste) frequently at intervals, and take a decoction supplemented with Fritillaria Thunbergii Bulb (Tubeimu, 土贝母). Regulate Qi downward; avoid worry, thought, anger, alcohol, sexual indulgence, as well as chicken, shrimp, crab, mutton, goose, pig head, liver, intestines, all toxic substances, fried and roasted foods, and items that stir up Qi and ignite fire. Observe these restrictions for one month, and recovery can be achieved. [Editor's Note: Tubeimu...]
Increase the dosage of Liansha San, or apply Gansui San (Kansui Powder) by insufflation; frequent swallowing of Baicao Gao (Hundred Herbs Paste) is also required, combined with decoctions, without interruption. Additionally, using Qinhua Wan (Holding and Melting Pill) for oral dissolution is also excellent, or apply Qiwei Jiangcan San (Seven-Ingredient Silkworm Powder) and Bawei Bohe San (Eight-Ingredient Mint Powder) by insufflation. First, apply Swallowwort Vine Stem Juice (Shancigu Zhi, 山慈菇汁) to the area, then apply the powder by insufflation, resulting in rapid efficacy. [Editor's Note: Swallowwort Vine Stem (Shancigu, 山慈菇) can be ground into powder and mixed into the insufflation powder; this method is simple and yields similar efficacy, but the dosage should be light.]
