Shenxiong Wan (Divine Xanthoxylum Pill)
Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, Scutellariae Radix (each 2 liang), Pharbitidis Semen (head end powder only), Talcum (each 4 liang), Coptidis Rhizoma, Chuanxiong Rhizoma, Menthae Haplocalycis Folium (each 0.5 liang).
Prepare pills by adding water dropwise to the size of *Cocculus trilobus* seeds. Take 50 pills per dose, with warm water after meals. (*Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang* does not include Coptidis Rhizoma in this formula.) Lou Quanshan stated: A middle-aged man suffered from nocturnal emission; astringent medicines were ineffective. After administering Shenxiong Wan to purge the pathogen, followed by Zhuling Wan, he was cured.
Zhuling Wan (Polyporus Pill)
Indicated for nocturnal emission caused by damp-heat stagnation in vigorous young adults.
Pinelliae Rhizoma (1 liang, broken into bean-sized pieces), Polypori Sclerotium (2 liang, powdered). First, stir-fry half of the Pinelliae Rhizoma until yellow, avoiding charring, and remove "fire toxicity." Grind into powder. Use rice paste to make pills the size of *Cocculus trilobus* seeds. Once dried, mix with half of the remaining Polypori Sclerotium powder and stir-fry lightly until slightly cracked. Store in a porcelain jar. Take 30–40 pills on an empty stomach with warm wine or salted water. It can also be taken between Wei (1–3 PM) and Shen (3–5 PM) hours with warm wine. This formula uses "draining" to achieve "stopping," treating frequent urination and seminal emission due to damp-heat stagnation. Pinellia promotes fluid metabolism, and Polyporus guides water downward, reflecting the principle of unblocking Qi when Kidney Qi is obstructed.
A case involved a man with nocturnal emission whose condition worsened after taking astringents. He was first purged heavily with Shenxiong Wan, then cured with Zhuling Wan. This demonstrates that many cases of nocturnal emission are due to stagnation.
Experience Pig Stomach Pill (Jingyan Zhudu Wan)
Indicated for nocturnal emission and spermatorrhea, improving appetite, and strengthening the body. The efficacy is miraculous.
Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (stir-fried with flour, 5 liang), Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (white variety, 3 liang), Ostreae Concha (left-facing, ground, 4 liang).
Grind the above herbs into powder. Clean one male pig stomach and boil it in a porcelain pot until extremely tender. Pound into a paste using wooden or stone tools, mix with the herb powder, add stomach juice, and continue pounding for half a day. Make pills the size of small beans. Take 40–50 pills per dose, three times daily, with rice decoction. Long-term use results in a robust physique and permanent cessation of nocturnal emission.
Weixi Wan (from *Heji Jufang*)
Poria (decocted with 2.5 qian of Polypori Sclerotium in a porcelain vessel for over 20 boils, then dried; discard Polypori Sclerotium, 4 liang), Beeswax (4 liang).
Grind Poria into powder. Melt beeswax and knead with the powder to form pills the size of marbles. Chew thoroughly on an empty stomach until saliva is abundant, then swallow slowly. Efficacy is confirmed when urine becomes clear and balanced. Avoid vinegar and emotional anger.
Sanxian Wan (Three Immortals Pill)
Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus (2 liang, stir-fried with 2 liang of salt, then discard salt), Mume Fructus (1.5 liang, stir-fried), Dioscoreae Rhizoma (1 liang, separately powdered).
Use Dioscoreae Rhizoma powder to make a paste for pill formation, sized like *Cocculus trilobus* seeds. Take 50 pills per dose, coated with Cinnabaris, taken on an empty stomach and before bed with salted water.
Cangzhu Wan (Atractylodes Lancea Pill)
Mao Mountain Atractylodis Rhizoma (remove coarse skin, 1 jin, soaked in rice wash water for one day and night, then dried),舶山 Foeniculum Vulgare Fruit (stir-fried, 3 liang), Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (processed, skin and navel removed), Psoraleae Fructus (each 2 liang, stir-fried), Toosendan Fructus (steamed, flesh extracted, dried, 3 liang), Poria (2 liang), Dragon Bone (separately ground, 2 liang).
Grind all ingredients into powder. Use rice paste to make pills the size of *Cocculus trilobus* seeds, coated with Cinnabaris. Take 50 pills per dose on an empty stomach with Amomi Fructus decoction. Rice gruel is also acceptable. This corresponds to the statement in *Zhizhi Fang*: "When Spleen Essence is uncontrollable, use Atractylodes-type herbs to consolidate Spleen Essence." If heat signs are present, Fengsui Dan is appropriate.
