Ash of Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), Talcum (Huashi), and Carbonized Herba Artemisiae Annuae (Baicaoshuang).
Grind the above ingredients into powder, and take with Xiongui Tang (Cnidium and Angelica Decoction) or ginger juice.
Treats retained placenta. The *Daquan Furen Liangfang* (Great General Good Formulas for Women) has other treatment methods.
(If deficiency fire carries blood, causing gradual dizziness and fainting.)
Use calcined horn of Cervus nippon (Lujiao) ash, remove fire toxicity, grind into extremely fine powder, mix with good wine, and administer orally to restore consciousness immediately. This method promotes blood circulation very rapidly.
Another prescription: Finely chop leaves of Allium tuberosum (Jiucai), place in a bottle with a spout, pour hot vinegar over it, seal the mouth tightly, and insert the spout into the nostril of the parturient woman to cure dizziness.
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (each 2 qian), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (each 0.5 qian), Dangui Shenyi (Radix Angelicae Sinensis caulis and tail) (0.5 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (1 qian, honey-fried). If there is heat, add Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) (3 qian) and Fuling (Poria) (1 qian).
Must greatly tonify Qi and Blood. Even if there are mixed symptoms, treat the root first.
Should clear heat and tonify Qi and Blood.
Huashi (Talcum) (2 qian), Moyao (Myrrha) (1 qian), Qilinjie (Sanguis Draconis) (1 qian; substitute Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex) if unavailable). Grind into powder, make pills with vinegar paste.
Walongzi (Fossilia Maxillae Squali) can dissolve blood stasis.
Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Huashi (Talcum), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, stir-baked), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium).
Cut into pieces, decoct in water and take.
This refers to pain in the lower abdomen caused by incomplete expulsion of postpartum disordered blood.
Wulingzhi (Trogopteri Excrementum), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma) powder, Gafen (Concha Meretrix), made into pills with vinegar. For severe cases, add Taoren (Persicae Semen) (uncut tip).
If lochia does not discharge, grind Wulingzhi (Trogopteri Excrementum) into powder, make pills with Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata), and swallow with Baizhu Chenpi Tang (Atractylodes and Citrus Decoction).
Do not treat as wind syndrome. Do not administer Xiaoxuming Tang (Minor Xu Ming Decoction). Must greatly tonify Qi and Blood, then treat phlegm. Treatment should be based on distinguishing the abundance or deficiency of Qi and Blood via radial pulse diagnosis at left and right positions.
Facial paralysis with deviation of mouth and eyes, do not administer Xiaoxuming Tang (Minor Xu Ming Decoction).
For severe fever, Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) must be used; for mild cases, use Fuling (Poria) to clear heat through diuresis. All bitter-cold heat-clearing and exterior-releasing drugs must not be used.
As soon as body heat appears, exterior-releasing methods are contraindicated. Fever and aversion to cold are both related to Qi and Blood. If the left radial pulse is deficient, blood-tonifying herbs should exceed Qi-tonifying herbs. If the right radial pulse is deficient, Qi-tonifying herbs should exceed blood-tonifying herbs.
When aversion to cold, fever, and abdominal fullness occur, disordered blood should be expelled. A "full" pulse here does not refer to this condition; abdominal pain is the indicator.
Postpartum, Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) should not be used because its sour and cold nature damages the vitalizing energy.
All diseases postpartum should not be treated with dispersing methods.
