(There are eighteen acupoints in total on the left and right sides.)
1. Tianrong (TI 17, Heavenly Capacity): There are two points, located behind the angle of the mandible below the ear, where the Qi of the Hand-Taiyang meridian emerges. It treats Bi syndrome of the throat with alternating cold and heat, and a sensation of a foreign body stuck in the throat. Insert the needle one cun deep; moxibustion of three moxa cones is applicable.
2. Tianyou (TE 16, Heavenly Window): There are two points, located above the tendons of the neck and the Clavicular fossa (Quepen), posterior to Tianrong, anterior to Tianzhu, inferior to Wanggu, and superior to the hairline, where the Qi of the Hand-Shaoyang meridian emerges. It treats wind-headache and facial swelling, stiff neck unable to look back. Insert the needle one cun deep, retain for seven breaths. Tonification is not suitable, nor is moxibustion. If moxibustion is applied, it causes facial swelling and closed eyes. First select Yexi (BL 55), then needle Tianyou and Fengchi (GB 20); the disease will recover. If Yexi is not needled first, it is difficult to cure the illness.
3. Tianchuang (SI 17, Heavenly Window Screen): There are two points, also known as Chuanglong. Located anterior to the large tendon of the neck, inferior to the angle of the mandible, in the depression where the pulse is palpable behind Futu, where the Qi of the Hand-Taiyang meridian emerges. It treats tinnitus, deafness where nothing can be heard, cheek swelling, pain in the throat, sudden aphonia unable to speak, shoulder pain radiating to the neck making it impossible to look back. Moxibustion of three cones is applicable; insert the needle three fen deep.
4. Tianding (SI 18, Heavenly Tripod): There are two points, located directly posterior to Futu at one cun from the Clavicular fossa (Quepen), where the Qi of the Hand-Yangming meridian emerges. It treats sudden aphonia with qi obstruction, throat Bi with swollen pharynx, dyspnea, inability to swallow food or drink, and buzzing in the throat. Moxibustion of three cones is applicable; insert the needle three fen deep.
