Scorpion, lizard, snake, dog, and centipede bites causing unbearable pain should be treated by needling the meridians corresponding to the injured area, using the reducing method. The patient should be instructed not to hold their breath, allowing the toxic qi to drain directly along the meridians.

For dog bites, moxibustion of seven moxa cones (zhuang) is applied on the first day, increasing by one cone daily thereafter.

For rabid dog bites, seven moxa cones are applied on the first day, followed by one cone daily until a total of one hundred cones are used.

For snake bites, if the wound is on the left side, needle the corresponding point on the right side until bleeding occurs. Additionally, needling the whorl of hair at the vertex (near Baihui GV20) yields excellent results.

Furthermore, regardless of severity, needling Taichong LR3 and Yinlingquan SP9 on the uninjured side also produces significant efficacy.

Inauspicious days for acupuncture and moxibustion: The 6th, 16th, 18th, 22nd, and 24th days of each lunar month, as well as the last day of a short month (Xiao Jin). Also avoid days with Earthly Branches Chen, You, and Wei.
Additionally, avoid Xian days (7th or 8th), Wang days (15th), Hui days (last day of month), Shuo days (1st day of month), and one day before and after solar terms. According to *Su Wen*, there are five inauspicious days specific to each period: men should avoid "Chu Wu" days, while women should avoid "Po Si" days.
