First, slice fresh ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), dip it in sesame oil, and rub the painful area. Then, roast a piece of ginger over fire until cooked, mash it, and apply it to the affected site; the pain will stop immediately.
Slice a single-clove garlic (Allii Sativi Bulbus Monococcus) and lay it on the painful area. For each slice of garlic, moxibustion (Moxibustion) with two cones (Zhuang) is applied. Remove the garlic, replace it with a new slice, and continue moxibustion until the pain heals spontaneously.
In the early stage, purple-white blisters appear, with pain penetrating to the bone, gradually rotting into deep holes discharging purple-black, foul-smelling fluid, which persists for a long time.
Take four taels of lead (Plumbum), melt it in an iron vessel, pour it into water, melt again, and repeat this process one hundred times until all the lead is used up. Discard the water, take three qian of the settled precipitate, add one qian of rosin (Pini Resina), five fen of minium (Red Lead, processed by water levigation), five fen of calomel (Mercurous Chloride), and one fen of musk (Moschus). Grind them together into a fine powder. First, clean the wound with scallion decoction.
Use sesame oil (Sesami Oleum) from the prescription to mix the medicine evenly and apply it to the wound, covering it with oiled paper. Alternatively, using Leg White Ointment is even better.
This disease is named Donkey Eye Sore (Lüyan Chuang), also known as Snail Eye Sore (Luoyan Chuang), commonly called Clamp Stick Carbuncle (Jiagun Ju). If not ulcerated and white in color, treat as carbuncle (Ju); if red and swollen, treat as abscess (Yong). If ulcerated for a long time,
with a shape resembling a donkey's eye, inquire whether the initial onset was red or white, and treat respectively as abscess or carbuncle.
It may be caused by trimming nails injuring the flesh, or by ingrown nails causing swelling and continuous rotting, even leading to the decay of all five toes, spreading to the dorsum of the foot, with numerous pus blisters arising, unbearable pain. First, boil tangerine peel (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) in water, wash away pus and blood. After prolonged washing, the nail naturally separates from the flesh; gently cut it off. Then, calcinate green vitriol (Melanteritum) until no juice remains, grind into powder, cool to remove heat qi, apply thickly to the rotten area, and wrap with silk cloth. Change once daily; after changing two or three times, no further changes are needed. For areas with pus blisters, pierce them and apply the dressing.
Endure the pain during application; healing occurs within ten days. Repeated trials prove it miraculous. Alternatively, applying according to the Licorice Prescription for Hand Bone-Stripping Gangrene is better. Using Leg White Ointment is particularly miraculous.
Another prescription: Calcify centipede (Scolopendra) until dry, grind into powder for external application. Apply powder of Arisaema (Arisaematis Rhizoma) mixed with vinegar around the periphery; very effective.
This condition arises on the toes of both feet (some say only on the fourth digit of hands and feet), or on the phalangeal joints, or between the fingers/toes. Initially, it may be white with extreme pain,
or resemble a millet grain forming a yellow blister. The skin may resemble a boiled red date, retaining black color; eventually, it ulcerates, shedding segment by segment, spreading to the dorsum of the foot, legs, and knees with black depression and rotting, unbearable pain. Treatment methods are seen in the prescription for Hand Bone-Stripping Gangrene.
