At the initial stage of a Ding sore (carbuncle/furuncle), the lesion is very small. If sores or blisters suddenly appear on the hands, feet, chest, back, head, or face, accompanied by itching or pain, chills and fever, or numbness without pain, this is an extremely malignant condition. One must absolutely not use fire cauterization; if moxibustion or fire application is used, the toxin will spread and become difficult to treat. Immediately take one seed of Crotonis Fructus (Badou, 巴豆) and one grain of rice, pound them into a uniform paste, and apply it to the sore. This will instantly extract the Ding toxin. This method is simple and remarkably effective.
Drink one bowl of juice extracted from the stems and leaves of wild Chrysanthemi Flos (Juhua, 菊花). Even in critical conditions, it can revive the dying. Alternatively, crush fresh Chrysanthemi Flos stems and leaves to extract juice, mix with warm wine, drink until intoxicated, sleep, and apply the dregs to the affected area overnight for recovery. Chrysanthemum is the sacred medicine for treating Ding sores; if leaves are unavailable in winter, the root may be used.
Drink one cup of Sesami Oleum (Huma You, 麻油); vegetable oil is also acceptable. This can eliminate the threat to life.
Another method: Scrape the sediment from a urine jar that has been used for many years, apply it to the affected area but leave the head of the Ding exposed. Apply four or five times for recovery.
Another method: Pound raw Dioscoreae Rhizoma (Shanyao, 山药) with white sugar until pasty and apply to the area to reduce swelling.
Another prescription: Take the roots and leaves of Xanthii Herba (Cangercao, 苍耳草), pound them, add infant urine, and squeeze out the juice. Drink one cup cold, three times a day. Additionally, take a large handful of the roots, stems, and leaves of Xanthii Herba, burn them to ash while preserving their medicinal properties, and grind into powder. Mix with rice vinegar and Indigo Naturalis (Lan Dian, 蓝淀) to form a mud-like paste. First, prick the center and surrounding areas of the Ding sore to allow blood to drain completely, then wipe clean. Apply the powder. Within no more than ten applications, the toxin will be extracted from the root. This is the most miraculous among all prescriptions.
Another prescription: Collect the patient's earwax and dental calculus, scrape fingernail and toenail clippings, mix uniformly, and form pills the size of beans. Place a pill in a tea spoon and gently roast over a lamp flame. Use a silver needle to open the head of the Ding sore and insert the pill. Cover externally with a layer of wet cotton paper. Pain will cease immediately.
Another prescription: Take five qian of the patient's own fingernails; if insufficient, supplement with others' nails. Roast on tiles until dry, grind into powder, and take with wine. When pus heads appear at the site, use tweezers to extract the pus thread, ensuring safety.
For Ding sores at the initial stage, use equal parts of Raw Alum (Mingfan, 明矾) and Realgar (Xionghuang, 雄黄), grind into fine powder. Pound Luffae Caulis Folium (Siguye, 丝瓜叶) to extract juice, mix with the powder, and apply using a duck feather brush. Reapply as it dries; resolution occurs within one day.
Another prescription: Grind three qian of Ferrugo (Tieshu, 生铁锈) into powder. Grind Costi Rhizoma (Muxiang, 广木香) in wine and take orally. Administer before or after meals depending on whether the disease is located in the upper or lower body. Recovery occurs with slight sweating.
Another prescription: Grind Semen Gleditsiae Sinensis (Zaoren, 皂荚子仁) into powder, mix with vinegar, and apply topically. Recovery occurs within five days.
