Decoct in water and take orally.
Another prescription: Nan Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba), Suzi (Perillae Fructus), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), and Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) each 3 qian, Sanqi (Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma) and Sheng Shouwu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix) each 2 qian, Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus) 4 qian, Guang Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) and Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) each 5 fen, Baihe (Lilii Bulbus) 5 qian. In the elderly, Qi and Blood have already declined; therefore, one should not use entirely harsh or strongly cold-cooling medicines. Thus, balanced and mild prescriptions are deliberated and compiled into the above two formulas. After taking medicine according to the prescription, if the internal toxin feels restless and continues to wander within the body, but quietly waits for the toxin to gradually sink downward without rising upward, this indicates that the treatment is symptomatic. Medication need not be taken too hastily; if taken too quickly, the internal toxin may jump and cause patient discomfort. However, one must abstain from consuming chicken, duck, birds, fish, shrimp, snails, clams, snakes, clams, aquatic animals, pangolins, scaled creatures, insects, etc. After long-term medication, one might vomit out one or two pieces of flesh, or vomit out more than ten black spots the size of beans, or pass several roundworms in stool, or excrete yellow mud-like water. Once excretion is complete, self-healing occurs. After recovery, one must still abstain from eating chicken, duck, fish, shrimp, etc., for several years, and permanently abstain from snake and clam meat. During the period of taking medicine, all foods that can trigger toxins, as well as pork, beef, horse meat, fruits, fried and roasted foods, may be consumed. Only sugar, dates, and sugarcane should be avoided. These are the new prescriptions for treating Gu poison.
Mei Shishi stated: Whenever one is poisoned by Gu, there may be bleeding like goose liver, hematemesis, or severe abdominal pain as if being bitten. If not treated immediately, the Gu will consume the five Zang organs, leading to death. To determine if it is Gu, ask the patient to spit water; what sinks is Gu, what floats is not. Burn old drum skin to ash, take one or two qian with wine, and soon the patient will call out the name of the Gu master.
Another prescription: Old drum skin, five cun wide and one chi long; Weiqiang Gen (Rosae Rugosae Radix) five cun (as thick as a thumb); decoct with one sheng of water and three sheng of wine until two sheng remain. Take orally; diarrhea should follow.
Another prescription: Banmao (Mylabris) four (remove wings and feet, roast thoroughly); Taoshupi (Pruni Persicae Cortex) (harvested on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, remove black skin, dry in shade); Hongya Daji (Euphorbiae Pekinensis Radix)... [Text cuts off here]
Another prescription: For toxins located in the upper part, decoct Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) to induce vomiting; for toxins in the abdomen, decoct Yujin (Curcumae Longae Rhizoma) to induce purgation. Alternatively, take both together; if no vomiting occurs, then purgation occurs, saving lives very swiftly.
Another prescription: As soon as abdominal discomfort is felt, eat raw soybeans. If no fishy smell is detected upon entry, this is Gu poisoning. Immediately drink strong decoction of Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and induce vomiting by stimulating the throat with fingers. This is extremely effective. If a fishy smell is detected when eating beans, it is not Gu.
Another prescription: Fourteen earthworms, soak in good vinegar until the worms die. Take the vinegar juice. Even patients with rotten livers who are dead can be treated. This is the prescription of Ge Xian.
Another prescription: Mash Machixian (Portulacae Herba, also known as Guaizi Cai) to extract one sheng of juice and drink it. Apply the dregs to the painful area. Drink four to five times daily. This is very effective.
Another prescription: First, take one cun of Zhigancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle), chew it, and swallow the juice. If poisoned by Gu, vomiting will occur immediately. Then, take three liang of Zhigancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle) and four liang of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), decoct in water, and take three times daily. If holding the licorice does not induce vomiting, it is not Gu poison. This is likely a secret transmission of Gu specialists.
Another prescription: For any Gu poisoning, regardless of how long ago it occurred, boil one egg, insert a silver object into it, hold it in the mouth for about one hour, then remove it. If both the egg and silver turn black, it is Gu poisoning. The prescription uses Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis) two liang, Liuhuang Mo (Sulfur Powder) one qian, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) three cun (half lightly stir-fried, half raw), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), and Shexiang (Moschus) each one fen, Qingfen (Calomelas) three fen, and Nuomi (Oryza Sativa Glutinosa) twenty grains. Decoct in a small clay pot and take orally (Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) should avoid fire; grind with water and mix). After taking the medicine, lie supine with head elevated on a high pillow. If something rushes to the heart in the abdomen, do not panic. Prepare a ceramic basin for vomiting. Vomiting out substances resembling fish swim bladders indicates the expulsion of evil matter. After vomiting, drink a cup of tea; diarrhea is acceptable. Eat white porridge after a short while. Avoid raw/cold, greasy, and sour sauces. Ten days later, take two or three pills of Jiedu Wan (Detoxifying Pill), and recovery will occur.
