The condition characterized by simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea is Huoluan (cholera-like disease). It can occur in any season, regardless of winter or summer. There are also cases where there is only vomiting without diarrhea, or only diarrhea without vomiting, which also belong to this category. Furthermore, cases where neither vomiting nor diarrhea can be expelled are termed Gan Huoluan (dry cholera). If treated improperly, these conditions are incurable. Whenever encountering this syndrome, one must absolutely not provide food to the patient; even rice soup should not be consumed. Ginger must also be avoided in the diet; once ingested, it becomes untreatable. Only after full recovery and when the body has stabilized for a long time can small amounts of food be introduced, and even then, overeating should be avoided.
Take a pinch of salt, heat it red-hot on the edge of a knife, and administer it with Yin-Yang water (water composed of half boiling water and half cold water, known as Yin-Yang water). After ingestion, abdominal pain will gradually cease.
Another prescription: Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) and Huoxiang (Agastachis Herba), each 5 qian, decocted in two zhong of clarified water prepared from yellow earth, and taken orally. Even if the patient appears dead, life can be instantly restored.
Another prescription: Fill the umbilicus with fried salt, place moxa on top of the salt, and burn it. Continue burning until the pain stops and the patient regains consciousness. If the patient appears dead but the heart region remains slightly warm, revival is still possible.
Another prescription: Carefully examine the patient's back. If black spots are present, puncture them one by one with a needle to induce bleeding, and the patient will recover. However, if treatment is delayed by one day, it becomes incurable. The location is on both sides of the fingernails, aligned with the point where the nail grows out, approximately one leek-leaf width away from the sides of the nail. Massage from the forearm down to the fingertips first to guide blood and qi downward before needling. Weizhong (BL40) is located in the popliteal crease. First, pat the area with hands dipped in warm water until purple-red marks appear, then prick along these purple-red marks.
Another prescription: Take Bofan (Alum) powder, mix with Yin-Yang water, and take 1–2 qian. This yields miraculous effects. This is a prescription attributed to Hua Tuo.
Another prescription: Decoct Fengshupi (Cortex Liquidambaris) into a strong decoction and drink it as tea. Its efficacy is miraculous.
Another prescription: Zhangmu (Cinnamomi Camphora Cortex), old Shanmu (Cedri Lignum), old iron nails, broom stalks, cart ropes (if unavailable, hemp scraps may be used), Zaoxintu (Caulis Zingiberis Recens Praeparatus), and Ziye (Perillae Folium), all in equal parts.
Xingcha
Another prescription: Huoxiang (Agastachis Herba) and Sugeng (Perillae Caulis), each 3 qian, decocted and taken orally. Vomiting and diarrhea will stop immediately; repeated trials have proven its efficacy to be miraculous.
Another prescription: For patients suffering from severe vomiting who cannot retain medication, add Zhen Chuanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) powder to the medicine. Administer drop by drop, one drop per mouthful, slowly. The condition will naturally resolve. Alternatively, drink a small amount of Wumei water (dark plum water) before taking the medicine. Both methods yield extremely miraculous results.
