To treat alcohol accumulation (stagnation of phlegm and food caused by long-term drinking) when various other medicines are ineffective (this formula is repeated in the Phlegm-Fluids section):
Da Yao, Xiao Yao, Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Badou (Crotonis Fructus), Damai (Hordei Fructus Germinatus), Xionghuang (Realgar). Each ingredient is processed as specified: Banxia, Badou, Damai, and Xionghuang are used in amounts of half tael, two qian, half tael, and five zhu respectively.
All ingredients are separately ground into fine powders, then mixed together and ground again until uniform. The powder is kneaded with Zhengbing (steamed leavened dough) to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. After being left for half a day until they are nearly dry but not completely dry, they are stir-fried in a pan with bran. Use if effective.
To treat chronic accumulation in patients with deficiency constitution who cannot expel it, as well as infantile abdominal masses (Ru Pi) and malaria in adults and children; it is also effective for treating malaria:
Jinpo (Gold Foil), Baixiangding (Vermicelli's Excrement, collected in the tenth lunar month), Heqipi (Pericarpium Terminaliae Chebulae), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos), Miduoseng (Litharge), Huangliu (Sulfur). Amounts: Jinpo 10 pieces, Baixiangding 1 fen, Heqipi and Dingxiang each 1 fen, Miduoseng half tael, Huangliu [unit missing].
All ingredients are ground together into a fine powder. The powder is kneaded with paste made from boiling cold-food noodles to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds (smaller, like hemp seeds, for children). Take 5 pills [number missing] with white noodle water on an empty stomach before going to bed at night, adjusting dosage according to the patient's deficiency or excess condition.
To treat cold accumulation (cold-type stagnation):
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Shi [missing character, likely a mineral drug], Xionghuang (Realgar), Dansha (Cinnabaris), Lilu (Veratri Rhizoma), Badou (Crotonis Fructus). All in equal proportions.
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Knead with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take one pill per dose with rice drink. It can be taken before or after meals.
To treat accumulation associated with Qi deficiency:
Da Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), Pogu Zhi (Psoraleae Fructus), Bicheng Qie (Bergamii Fructus), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix). Each half tael. Sha [missing character, likely Sharen] half qian.
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Wrap the medicine in Da Mai Mian (barley flour dough) and roast together until the dough turns yellow and scorched. Remove the dough, grind the remaining medicine into a fine powder, and knead with flour paste to form pills the size of mung beans. Take three to five pills per dose with rice drink.
To eliminate Pi Qi (abdominal masses) and treat distension and fullness:
Qingpi Mo (Exocarpium Citri Reticulatae Viridis Powder), Xieshao (Scorpio Caudex), Hujiao (Piperis Longi Fructus), Shexiang (Moschus). Amounts: Qingpi 2 qian, Xieshao 1 qian, Hujiao 14 grains, Shexiang a small amount. Jin Zao (Chinese Jujube) 5 plump ones, pitted, each containing Ba [Dou, text cut off].
Pound all ingredients together into a paste. Wrap in oiled paper and immediately form pills the size of mung beans. Take two pills after meals and before bedtime with decoction of scallion whites. Another version does not contain Qingpi.
