Xiong Fa (Chest Carbuncle) arises in the center of the chest, three cun below Jiehou (Laryngeal Prominence, CV22), and not far from Xinwo (Heart Pit). It is a location where the six meridians of the hand and foot intersect and relate. This condition is extremely critical to life; within three or four days, if not treated promptly, it may lead to bone fracture and skin rupture, which is very terrifying. Initially, one should extract toxins and relieve pain to prevent "Dinghua" (formation of a pus head) and "Kaihua" (rupture and spread). To relieve pain, wrap powder of Rush Xiang (Frankincense) and Mo Yao (Myrrh) in fire paper, wrap the paper strip in green cloth, dip the strip in oil, ignite it, and fumigate the painful toxic area. If the pain subsides to the point of cessation, this is a miraculous effect. Internally administer Qudu Zhenxin Yin (Toxin-Expelling Heart-Calming Decoction) to prevent rupture; if rupture occurs, even immortals cannot cure it. Be cautious! Be cautious!
Eleven-Ingredient Qudu Zhenxin Yin (Toxin-Expelling Heart-Calming Decoction):
Zhu Sha (Cinnabar), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Er Hua (Flos Lonicerae Japonicae et Flos Lonicerae Caprifolii), Qing Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Ru Xiang (Boswelliae Resina), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) washed with wine, Sheng Di (Rehmanniae Radix), Lian Mi (Nelumbinis Semen) decentered, Fu Ling (Poria), Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus). Use Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) as a guide. Take one Zhu Xin (Porcinum Cor), add four bowls of water, decoct to one bowl. Take on an empty stomach.
Twelve-Ingredient Qingre Qianxin Tang (Heat-Clearing Mind-Calming Decoction):
Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Gan Ge (Puerariae Radix), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Zhu Sha (Cinnabar), Ru Xiang (Boswelliae Resina), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuan Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Ju Gen (Scrophulariae Radix), Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) honey-fried, Lian Mi (Nelumbinis Semen) decentered. Decoct as above. Take on an empty stomach.
Shoubei Fa (Dorsum Hand Carbuncle) arises on the dorsum of both hands, between muscles and bones, belonging to the jurisdiction of the six hand meridians. It originates from accumulated heat in the Heart and Liver flowing into the dorsum of the hand. At the initial stage, apply Tie Gu San (Iron-Hoop Powder) externally. Subsequently, use Dingtong Liqi Yin (Pain-Relieving Qi-Regulating Decoction) and Neituo Liqi Yin (Internal-Supporting Qi-Regulating Decoction). Externally apply Wanling Gao (Ten-Thousand Spirits Plaster) and Shengji San (Tissue-Regenerating Powder) (formula seen above) to achieve complete recovery. This condition begins like a millet grain, but later becomes severe; how can one not fear it?
Fourteen-Ingredient Dingtong Liqi Yin (Pain-Relieving Qi-Regulating Decoction):
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Zhi Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata), Chuan Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Fu Ling (Poria), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Wu Yao (Linderae Radix), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Ru Xiang (Boswelliae Resina), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus). Take long after meals.
Fifteen-Ingredient Neituo Liqi Yin (Internal-Supporting Qi-Regulating Decoction):
Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix), Wu Yao (Linderae Radix), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuan Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Guan Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Hou Po (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Er Hua (Flos Lonicerae Japonicae et Flos Lonicerae Caprifolii). Take long after meals.
Six-Ingredient Baijiezi San (White Mustard Seed Powder):
Bai Jie Zi (Sinapis Semen), Guan Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Er Hua (Flos Lonicerae Japonicae et Flos Lonicerae Caprifolii), Tian Hua Fen (Trichosanthis Radix). Stir-fry all ingredients with water and wine, then decoct with water. Take long after meals.
Three-Ingredient External Application Formula:
Di Gu Pi (Lycii Cortex), Si Gua Zi (Trichosanthis Semen), Er Hua (Flos Lonicerae Japonicae et Flos Lonicerae Caprifolii). Mix with wine, pound finely, and apply externally.
Three-Ingredient External Application Formula:
Gui Jian Chou (likely referring to a specific local herb or alias, contextually similar to toxic herbs used for sores), Di Gu Pi (Lycii Cortex), Dan Cao (Gentianae Radix). Mix with wine, pound until mushy, and apply externally.
Another Formula:
Take a large handful of Bao Feng Teng (likely Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma or similar vine, also known as Zhua Shan Hu), place it in a clay pot, decoct with water, and direct the pot mouth towards the sore for fumigation. If the water cools, continue decocting and fumigating. Fumigate seven or eight times daily. If pain occurs, move the pot mouth further away; if no pain, move it closer. Within three or four days, the pus will dry, swelling will subside, pain will cease, and the skin will flatten and recover. This formula is miraculous.
The above three formulas are universally applicable for Bei Fa (Back Carbuncles) and are very effective.
