Mustache hair disease (Shu Fa) occurs at the corner of the jaw below the chin, belonging to the domains of the Hand Taiyang, Hand Taiyin, Foot Taiyang, and Foot Taiyin meridians. It is caused by excessive diet leading to accumulated heat rising upward. Initially, it presents as grain-sized nodules that gradually become dry, ulcerated, with varying degrees of pain and itching. If left untreated for years, it becomes chronic. Treatment involves fumigating the area with a large handful of *Bao Feng Teng* decoction, ensuring the steam does not blow directly onto the face. Internally, administer Shengma Jiedu Tang (Cimicifuga Antitoxic Decoction) and Zhuidu San (Toxin-Expelling Powder, see above). Externally apply medicated powder for cure.
Four-Ingredient External Powder: Gypsum (Shi Gao), Cuttlebone (Piao Xiao), Realgar (Xiong Huang), Calcined Alum (Ku Fan).
Grind all ingredients into fine powder and apply externally.
Shoulder hair disease (Jian Fa) occurs on the upper back of both shoulders, belonging to the domains of the Hand Three Yang, Hand Three Yin, Foot Three Yang, and Foot Three Yin meridians. It results from the accumulation of wind-dampness-heat transforming into toxicity, commonly seen in porters or those carrying heavy loads. Internal treatment should use Neituo Liuqi Yin (Internal Supportive Qi-Regulating Decoction). Externally apply Qingliang Gao (Cooling Ointment), Shengji San (Flesh-Generating Powder), and accompanying external formulas.
Fourteen-Ingredient Internal Supportive Qi-Regulating Decoction (Neituo Liuqi Yin): Roasted Astragalus Root (Zhi Huangqi), Rehmannia Root (Sheng Di), Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi), Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong), Red Peony Root (Chishao), Saposhnikovia Divaricata (Fangfeng), Licorice Root (Gancao), Ginseng (Renshen), Scrophularia Root (Xuanshen), Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian), Platycodon Root (Jiegen), Forsythia Fruit (Lianqiao), Honeysuckle Flower (Erhua), Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo).
Take after meals.
Six-Ingredient External Powder: Lobelia Chinensis (Banbianlian), Gleditsia Sinensis Thorn (Zaojiaoci), Momordica Cochinchinensis Seed (Mubiezi), Opuntia Dillenii (Xianrenzhang), Realgar (Xiong Huang), Croton Tiglium Seed (Dafengzi).
Grind all ingredients into fine powder and apply externally. Additionally, Qingliang Gao (Cooling Ointment) and Shengji San (Flesh-Generating Powder, formula see above) may be used.
Breast hair disease (Ru Fa) occurs on the breasts, belonging to the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian and Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian. It is categorized into "Internal Blowing" (Neichui) and "External Blowing" (Waichui), predominantly affecting women due to wind-heat obstruction in these meridians causing blood and qi stagnation. "Internal Blowing" is attributed to fetal gas pressure during pregnancy; early symptoms can be treated effectively with moxibustion using Mugwort Leaf (Aiye) and cupping therapy. "External Blowing," if detected early, can resolve by expressing milk through nipple compression. "Internal Blowing" typically resolves spontaneously postpartum. However, untreated "External Blowing" can lead to chest penetration and spread to the hypochondrium, resulting in death. Initial treatment involves drinking Yijin Ren Donghua Jiu (Honeysuckle Wine, formula see previous section), followed by Sixteen-Ingredient Detoxifying Qi-Regulating Decoction (Shiliuwei Baidu Liuqi Yin) and Pain-Calming Frankincense Decoction (Dingtong Ruxiang Tang). Externally apply Wanling Gao (Ten-Thousand Spirit Ointment) and Shengji San (Flesh-Generating Powder).
Sixteen-Ingredient Detoxifying Qi-Regulating Decoction (Shiliuwei Baidu Liuqi Yin): Perilla Leaf (Suye), Platycodon Root (Jiegen), Bitter Orange (Zhike), Licorice Root (Gancao), Saposhnikovia Divaricata (Fangfeng), Bupleurum Root (Chaihu), Peucedanum Root (Qianhu), Forsythia Fruit (Lianqiao), Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong), Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo), Cimicifuga Rhizome (Shengma), Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), Astragalus Root (Huangqi), Honeysuckle Flower (Erhua), Gleditsia Sinensis Thorn (Zaojiaoci).
