Madao Chuang (Horse-Scallop Sore) arises outside the Quepen acupoint (supraclavicular fossa), extending from the chest to the hypochondrium. This condition typically results from improper treatment of Tanhe Luoli (Phlegm Nodules and Scrofula), leading to frequent tidal fevers, depletion of Qi and Blood, and spirit, swelling of masses, and subsequent ulceration. Consequently, pus, blood, and toxic vapors flow downward, triggering this syndrome.
What is meant by "Madao" (Horse-Scallop)? "Ma" (Horse) signifies rapid movement; "Dao" (Sword/Knife) signifies a sharp weapon. Rapid movement combined with a sharp weapon implies that without vigilance, one cannot effectively resist the enemy.
Treatment must begin with administering Bendu Yin (Poison-Fleeing Decoction). Externally, moxibustion should be applied to the Jianjing (GB21), Feishu (BL13), Danzhong (CV17), Fengchi (GB20), Zhongwan (CV12), Bailao (EX-B1), and Quchi (LI11) acupoints, five to six moxa cones per point. The various formulas previously mentioned for treating Luoli (Scrofula) are also suitable for internal use. If Madao Chuang has not yet ulcerated, apply moxibustion directly onto the nodule if it is small on the face, externally apply Wanling Gao (Myriad Miracles Plaster), and regulate with herbal medication for spontaneous recovery. Any delay in treatment renders even divine elixirs ineffective.
