Fever caused by food stagnation presents with a ruddy complexion, nausea, abdominal distension, and intermittent pain. The child prefers to expose the body to dissipate heat but refuses food. This presentation is significantly different from *Shanghan* (Cold Damage disease).
Treatment for food stagnation should focus on resolving stagnation and harmonizing the middle; *Huoxiang San* (Agastache Powder) is most suitable, taken concurrently with *Baohe Wan* (Preserve Harmony Pill). After the pathogenic factor recedes, the Spleen should be nourished. If convulsions due to fright develop, only purgative methods can yield miraculous results.
For fever due to food stagnation, use *Huoxiang San*, which contains *Ziye* (Perilla Leaf), *Xiangfu* (Cyperus Rhizome), *Pou* (Magnolia Bark), *Chenpi* (Tangerine Peel), *Cangzhu* (Atractylodes Rhizome), *Banxia* (Pinellia Tuber), *Huanglian* (Coptis Rhizome), *Gancao* (Licorice Root), and *Qu* (Medicated Leaven). Use *Shengjiang* (Fresh Ginger) as an adjuvant during decoction.
Fever due to wind invasion presents with a red face, restlessness, fatigue, loss of appetite, a desire to be held for warmth, aversion to wind and cold, thirst, and constipation, indicating interior excess.
Chills indicate the pathogen is in the exterior; *Baidu San* (Ten Thousand Poison Resolving Powder) is effective for releasing the exterior via sweating. For interior excess, use *Sanhuang Wan* (Three Yellows Pill); if fright occurs, use *Xieqing Wan* (Drain Green Pill).
*Baidu San* releases the exterior using *Qianghuo* (Notopterygium Rhizome) and *Fangfeng* (Saposhnikovia Root). *Shengma* (Cimicifuga Rhizome), *Chaihu* (Bupleurum Root), and *Gegen* (Kudzu Root) effectively relieve muscle layer tension. *Qianhu* (Peucedani Radix), *Zhike* (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), *Gancao* (Licorice Root), and *Jiegeng* (Platycodon Root), combined with *Ziye* (Perilla Leaf) and *Renshen* (Ginseng Root), form the basis of this formula.
Pediatric edema is often caused by wind-dampness, or chronic malaria leading to Spleen deficiency. Edema in the upper body is primarily attributed to wind, while edema in the lower body is primarily attributed to dampness. The method of strengthening the Spleen is rarely known.
For generalized edema, seek efficacy in *Weiling Wan* (Stomach and Five Zang Pill). Avoid exposure to wind and bathing; do not use *Qianniuzi* (Pharbitis Seed).
Abdominal distension with visible subcutaneous veins can be treated by burning at the intersection of lamp-fire moxibustion points. Internally, take *Jisheng Wan* (Collecting Sage Pill), combined with *Weiling Wan*.
For pediatric thrush (*E Kou Chuang*), *Baixie* (Alumen) and *Zhufan* (Alum) are effective. For red sores, use *Jianglian San* (Ginger and Coptis Powder). *Xixin San* (Wash Heart Powder) is a miraculous prescription.
*Xixin San* contains *Mahuang* (Ephedra Stem), *Jingjie* (Schizonepeta Spike), *Bohe* (Mint Herb), *Chishao* (Red Peony Root), *Baizhu* (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), *Jiangjun* (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome, i.e., Dahuang), and *Guolao* (Licorice Root). Decoct and administer with fresh ginger.
If the gums rot into ulcers, prevent *Zouma Gan* (Running Horse Gangrene). If bleeding and foul odor occur, *Wenge San* (Mosquito Shell Powder) is appropriate.
Saliva dribbling from the mouth in children is called *Zhi Yi* (Drooling), caused by Spleen deficiency and cold. Use *Yihuang San* (Benefit Yellow Powder) added with *Cangzhu* (Atractylodes Rhizome). Untreated, it will inevitably develop into *Gan* syndrome (malnutrition).
What causes widespread scabies? It stems from blood heat and congenital toxin accumulation. The child suffers from pain and itching, crying mostly at night. Do not allow the pathogen to enter the interior, or life will be lost.
Scabies should not be treated with topical applications; *Huma Wan* (Sesame Pill) is best. If the pathogen enters the interior, resolve toxicity. If fright occurs, do not treat other symptoms.
Children eating dirt indicates Spleen heat; use *Xiehuan San* (Drain Yellow Powder). Take alternately with *Jisheng Wan*. Once *Gan* syndrome develops, it is uncontrollable.
Children sleeping face down indicate heat in the Heart. Use *Daochi San* (Direct Flow Powder), combined with *Xiexin Tang* (Drain Heart Decoction) and *Liangjing Wan* (Cool Fright Pill).
Excessive white urine in children, resembling rice washings when falling, can be treated with *Weiling Wan* delivered with salt water. Multiple doses followed by *Jierao Jian* (Resolve Disturbance Decoction) will alleviate the condition.
Clear stools indicate pathogenic heat in the Liver channel. Use *Xieqing Wan* (Drain Green Pill); this method is as effective as divine intervention.
Burnt-yellow stools indicate pathogenic heat in the Spleen. Who knows *Xiehuan San* (Drain Yellow Powder)? It is indeed a miraculous formula.
