The patient's Cun Kou (radial artery pulse position) pulse is rapid and deficient; upon deep pressure, it feels choppy. The body is cold while the interior feels vexed, there is excessive salivation with dry lips, urination is difficult, and stool resembles rotten melon or pig brain in consistency. There is an urge to cough but inability to do so, producing dry froth, blood in saliva, a sensation of warmth and fluidity in the chest, wheezing and chest fullness, or dryness with thirst. This is often caused by excessive sweating, diuresis, vomiting, xiao ke (wasting-thirst syndrome), or frequent use of purgatives, leading to severe depletion of body fluids. Consequently, heat accumulates in the upper jiao (upper burner), resulting in fei wei (lung atrophy).
To treat fei wei (lung atrophy) characterized by excessive saliva, frequent urination, and coldness in the lungs, which inevitably leads to dizziness; if there is no thirst and no cough, enuresis (involuntary urination) will occur. The reason for this is that deficiency in the upper jiao fails to control the lower jiao.

The patient's Cun Kou pulse is rapid and excess/full; upon deep pressure, it feels slippery. There is coughing up of pus and blood, a prickling dryness in the mouth, dull pain in the chest, dry mouth with wheezing and fullness, dry throat without thirst, copious expectoration of turbid froth with a foul fishy odor, and occasional chills. This occurs where heat has passed, causing blood stagnation and accumulation, forming lung abscesses (fei ong). The expectoration resembles congee. Hence, it is termed fei ong (lung abscess). If treated at the initial stage, it can be saved; once pus is formed, it is difficult to treat.
To treat fei ong (lung abscess) presenting with chest fullness and distension, edema of the whole body including face and eyes, nasal congestion, clear rhinorrhea, loss of smell for fragrant, foul, sour, or pungent odors, cough with rebellious qi, wheezing with stridor, and airway obstruction.
