For contusions, knife or stone injuries, and other severe traumatic injuries, the treatment protocol is to first administer Qingxin Yao (Clear Heart Medicine), followed by a diuretic to promote urination, and finally a blood-activating formula to remove stasis. If the injured person is crushed by heavy objects, causing blood stasis to enter the Large Intestine, all medicines should be taken with a "Tangshi" (vehicle/guide for drug action). The specific method is to decoct the Qingxin Yao first, then mix it with one cup of child's urine (Tongbian) and take them together. For pain relief in severe cases, the medicine should be taken with Ginger Decoction (Jiang Tang).
[Formula for腊月 Hunter Fat Ointment]
Ingredients: Hunter fat from the twelfth lunar month (5 liang), Yellow Beeswax (0.5 jin, melted first), Lead Carbonate (Qian Dan, sifted), Natural Copper (Ziran Tong, 4 liang, ground), Ledum (Mituo Seng, 4 liang, ground), Cinnabar (Zhusha, 1 liang, ground).
Preparation: Use a new cauldron. First melt the hunter fat, then add the beeswax. Add Ledum, Lead Carbonate, and Natural Copper at a cool place. Simmer over low heat again until the ointment does not disperse when dropped into water and becomes firm. This ointment is for external application on superficial wounds.
[Another Formula (Internal)]
Indications: Contusions and trauma, bone fractures, tendon ruptures, and stabbing pain. It is effective regardless of the severity of the injury.
Ingredients: Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Xiang Baizhi, stir-fried with vinegar, dosage adjustable), Pseudolaricis Cortex (Zijin Pi, stir-fried with vinegar), Herba Siegesbeckiae (Liu Jinu), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Chuan Danggui, roasted, stir-fried with salt water), Paeoniae Radix Rubra (Chi Shaoyao), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Bai Shaoyao), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, soaked and stir-fried with salt water), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong, soaked in rice water), Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Chuan Niuxi, stir-fried with tea water), Frankincense (Ruxiang, adjustable), Myrrh (Moyao, adjustable), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang, stir-fried with tea water), Agastache Herba (Huoxiang), Eucommiae Cortex (Duzhong), Dipsaci Radix (Xuduan), Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata (Caowu, stir-fried with vinegar).
