To treat menorrhagia (heavy uterine bleeding) and metrorrhagia (irregular uterine bleeding) that occurs suddenly after menstruation has ceased for many years, accompanied by abdominal pain and alternating chills and fever, add Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Zhu Yu (Corni Fructus), Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and Hong Zao (Jujubae Fructus). Use Shu Fu Wan (Prepared Aconite Pill). (The formula for Si Wu Tang is seen in the preceding text.)
Da Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chi Shi Zhi (Halloysit Rubra), Bai Long Gu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi), Mu Zei (Equiseti Herba [de-jointed]), Shu Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) [each in equal parts].
Grind the above herbs into powder, mix with vinegar and rice paste to make pills, sized like Sophora japonica seeds. Take 50 pills each time, swallowed with rice water, until the condition gradually improves.
To treat persistent metrorrhagia caused by heat in the menstrual blood, accompanied by a bitter taste in the mouth, dry throat, and irregular menstruation, this formula is suitable.
