To treat deviation of the mouth and eye (facial paralysis).
Take Semen Ricini (Castor Bean), remove the shell, crush it, and apply it to the palm. Place a small bowl over the crushed seeds on the palm, pour hot water into the bowl, and immediately remove once the facial features are aligned.
Another prescription:
Decoct Cortex Cinnamomi (Cinnamon Bark) in wine to extract the juice. Dip Folium Broussonetiae Papyriferae (Paper Mulberry Leaf) or Gu Zhi (Psoralea Fruit) in the medicinal juice and apply it to the affected area. Apply to the right side for left-sided deviation, and to the left side for right-sided deviation; the face will straighten.
Crush Trichosanthis Fructus (Snakegourd Fruit) and squeeze out the juice. Mix with Triticum aestivum flour (Barley Flour) to form a cake. Heat it by roasting and apply as a warm compress to the affected area. Stop when the face is straightened to avoid excessive treatment.
Take one large Eel (Monopterus albus). Prick its head to let blood drip. If the mouth deviates to the left, apply the blood to the right side; if it deviates to the right, apply to the left side. Wash off the blood once the face is level, and release the eel.
