To treat all kinds of wind diseases. Qingteng (the variety from Digang, Taiping, Anhui is superior, harvested in the second and third lunar months) in any quantity is placed in a pot and simmered over low heat for seven days and nights until it becomes an ointment, which is stored in a jar. Meanwhile, prepare three to five combs. Depending on the patient's deficiency or excess constitution, administer one teaspoon of the ointment with wine. After patting the patient's body once, severe itching will spread over the whole body; immediately comb the skin to stop the itching, then drink a mouthful of cold water to resolve the sensation. The wind disease will be cured, but avoid wind exposure for several days.
Geng Sheng notes: Qingteng is originally named Qingfengteng, growing in the mountains of Taizhou. Its vines climb trees and remain evergreen throughout the year. It mainly treats wind diseases and also rheumatic wandering pain, boils, knee deformities resembling crane knees (Xianbi), numbness, itching, traumatic injuries, and sores. This prescription appears in *Ji Jian Fang*.
Caused by contracting wind-dampness. There is pulling pain throughout the body and joints, inability to walk, failure of various medicines, and emaciation. Use Mutong (Akebiae Caulis) two liang (finely sliced). Decoct with long-flowing water and take the juice. After about one hour, the whole body may itch or develop red spots; do not fear this. Sweating from top to bottom indicates recovery.
Cases lasting more than three years are incurable. Take one white pigeon (cleaned and gutted), insert one liang of Xuejie (Dragon's Blood), two liang if the duration is two years, and three liang if three years. Sew it shut with needle and thread, boil in pure wine (without ash additives) for a few boils, and have the patient eat it to promote the circulation of blood stasis. If the patient feels mental confusion, eating a piece of boiled meat will stop the symptom.
For malignant diseases where the condition is hopeless, use this medicine. Use Zaojiaoci (Gleditsiae Spina) two jin (washed), grind into coarse powder, steam one or two times, dry in the sun, then grind into fine powder. Decoct thickly, add one qian of Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), mix with plain boiling water, and take. Hair and beard will regrow.
For trismus (lockjaw) approaching death. Crush five stalks of Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) without skin and roots to extract juice. Administer into the throat with a spoon, then pour four liang of Mayou (Sesame Oil). Once swallowed, consciousness returns immediately. After a short while, accumulated parasites transform into yellow fluid and discharge.
Scrape off the black-yellow surface bark of Xiangzhang (Cinnamomum Camphora) tree bark, use the second layer of bark, crush and decoct into soup. Taking it stops the pain and prevents recurrence. Geng Sheng notes: Heart pain is rarely seen in the world; it is actually stomach qi pain. Mo's single prescription for stomach qi pain is quite effective: Use ten leaves of Aye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium), crush them in a copper vessel, stir-fry over low heat until yellow, mix with two qian of Yanlu (Salt Brine), stir-fry until dry, remove and grind into fine powder. Take with one cup of Shaojiu (Baijiu). When abdominal sounds occur, or gas passes, or clear fluid is vomited, the patient recovers. Avoid tea, water, and greasy food for several days. On the 2nd and 16th of each lunar month, take another dose with light salt water to prevent recurrence forever. This prescription is mild yet effective, but must be prepared at the time of use.
