Burn the *Canavalia gladiata* seed (Dou Dou Zi) until it retains its medicinal properties (charred but not fully ashed), mix with plain boiled water, and take orally; bleeding will stop immediately.
To treat bloody and purulent dysentery (Chi Bai Li), frequent day and night stools, and intestinal wind bleeding (Chang Feng Xia Xue): Take two taels of Coptis Rhizome (Huang Lian) and two taels of Evodia Fruit (Wu Zhu Yu). Soak in hot water seven times, stir-fry together, then separate and grind each into fine powder. Form pills using millet rice paste, sized like wu-tzu seeds (approx. 6-9mm diameter), and store separately. Take thirty pills per dose. For bloody dysentery, take fifteen Coptis pills, washed down with Licorice Root Decoction (Gan Cao Tang); for white dysentery, take fifteen Evodia pills, washed down with Dried Ginger Decoction (Gan Jiang Tang); for mixed bloody and white dysentery, take fifteen of each, washed down with Rice Decoction.
This treatment applies to men, women, unmarried girls, pregnant women, and children alike. Take two to three jin (approx. 1-1.5 kg) of white radish, wash clean, keep the skin on, place in a stone mortar, crush, and squeeze out thick juice. This prescription is miraculous for treating epidemic dysentery.

Another Prescription: For bloody dysentery, use White Celosia Flower (Bai Ji Guan Hua); for white dysentery, use Red Celosia Flower (Chi Ji Guan Hua). Char to ash retaining medicinal properties, take with wine. This is highly effective and also treats bloody and purulent strangury (Chi Bai Lin).
Crush Purple Vetch Herb (Zi Hua Di Ding Cao) into a paste, apply to the umbilicus (Shenque, CV8); bleeding will stop immediately.

Geng Sheng's Note: For treating strangury, use two to three winter melons, boil and eat two to three jin daily; self-healing occurs, showing remarkable efficacy. If it is bloody strangury (Xue Lin), use dried persimmon cake charred to carbon, ground into powder, taken with rice water; this is also extremely effective.
Grind White Silkworm (Bai Can) into powder, take 2 qian with wine. Shortly after, drink a cup of sesame tea and comb the hair dozens of times; milk flow will emerge like a spring.

If red spots appear on the shins of the child, it indicates that the pathogenic qi of infantile convulsion (Jing Feng) has emerged, and the illness will subside; if no spots appear, it is untreatable. Note: For acute infantile convulsion (Ji Jing Feng), bake the insect found inside the stem of Artemisia Annua (Qing Hao) until dry, grind into powder, mix with a small amount of Lamp Wick Ash (Deng Xin Hui Mo), and administer; this is extremely effective. For chronic infantile convulsion (Man Jing Feng), warm-tonifying methods should be used; this prescription should be used with discretion.
