(Attached: Tubercles)
The treatment of Ying Qi (goiter, neck masses) requires first the cessation of rich and greasy foods.
Prescription:
Hai Zao (Sargassum Herba, 1 liang) Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 2 liang; some say use Huang Bo [Phellodendri Cortex], or Huang Yao Zi [Dioscoreae Hypoglaucae Rhizoma])
Grind the above into powder. Place a small amount in the palm, lick it occasionally, and swallow with saliva. If two-thirds of the mass has dissipated, stop taking subsequent doses.
Tubercles may appear on the neck, lateral neck, arms, or body, resembling swelling toxins; these are mostly caused by the flow and accumulation of damp-phlegm, forming nodules that do not dissipate.
Prescription: For treating one nodule each behind the ear and in the neck region.
Jiang Can (Bombyx Batryticatus, stir-fried) Jiu Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma processed with wine) Qing Dai (Indigo Naturalis) Dan Nan Xing (Arisaematis Cum Bile)
Grind the above into powder, form pills with honey. Hold in the mouth to dissolve and swallow.
Another prescription: For treating phlegm nodules growing below the neck.
Er Chen Tang plus Da Huang (processed with wine) Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus) Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix) Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix)
Decoct in water. Take after meals.
Yet another prescription: For treating painful nodules in the arm.
Er Chen Tang plus Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus) Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) Zao Jiao Ci (Gleditsiae Spina) Jiu Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix processed with wine) Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma)
Decoct in water and take.
For traumatic injuries from falls or blows, Su Mu (Sappanwood) must be used to harmonize blood, Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma) to descend fire, and Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) to harmonize the middle jiao; decoct with Tong Bian (child's urine) and stir-fry. For injuries in the lower part of the body, tonification and connection should be performed first, followed by the expulsion of blood stasis; for injuries in the upper part, drinking leek juice or eating it mixed with porridge is suitable. One must absolutely avoid drinking cold water, as blood coagulates upon encountering cold; even a trace of blood...
Prescription:
For treating injuries from falling or striking.
For bleeding due to fall injury: Mix Jiang Zhi (Zingiberis Juice) and Xiang You (Sesame Oil), each 4 liang, and take with wine.
For fractures and bleeding due to injury: Grind Hua Shi (Talcum) and Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) into powder, and take with Ren Shen Tang (Ginseng Decoction). Next, take one cup of fresh Ginger Juice, one cup of Rice Vinegar, and break four single-seed Soapsuds Fruits (Sapindus Mukurossi); place them in the ginger juice and vinegar, filter through gauze to remove dregs, add Niu Pi Jiao (Asini Corii Colla), and decoct into an ointment for external application. This can be used for the whole body.
Jie Gu San (Bone-Setting Powder)
Mo Yao (Myrrha) Ru Xiang (Olibanum) (each half liang) Zi Ran Tong (Pyritum, 1 liang, quenched in water) Hua Shi (Talcum, 2 liang) Long Gu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Scapulae, 3 qian) Chi Shi Zhi (Halloysit Rubra, 3 qian) She Xiang (Moschus, 1 zi, separately ground)
Grind the above into powder. Soak in good vinegar until covered, boil until mostly dry, reaching a dry state; take before bed. At this time, add She Xiang (Moschus), scoop with a tea spoon, leave on the tongue, and wash down with warm wine. Take before or after meals depending on whether the injury is upper or lower. If pain persists after the bone has united, remove Long Gu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Scapulae) and Chi Shi Zhi (Halloysit Rubra) and continue taking the rest; finishing most of it will lead to recovery, with excellent effect.
People in the world consider Zi Ran Tong (Pyritum) as a bone-setting medicine, but there are many such prescriptions, which generally focus on tonifying qi, tonifying blood, and tonifying spleen earth. Quack doctors only seek rapid effects to profit and claim credit, yet the harm of drying and dispersing agents is worse than swords and knives; beware!
Another prescription
Dong Gua Pi (Benincasae Exocarpium) E Jiao (Asini Corii Colla) (equal parts)
Stir-fry until dry, grind into powder. Take with wine, drink until intoxicated.
