(Also known as Duoming San [Life-Rescuing Powder])
Treats open injuries caused by blunt force trauma, as well as headache and opisthotonos (rigid extension of the body) caused by tetanus.
Arisaema Cum Bile (processed seven times) Saposhnikovia Root (remove rhizome and branched roots)
Grind the above herbs into a fine powder. For patients suffering from tetanus, apply the powder to the wound externally, and simultaneously take one qian of the powder mixed with warm wine. If the patient suffers from trismus (lockjaw), mix two qian of the powder with urine from a young boy and administer orally. If the patient is in a critical condition but the heart area remains slightly warm, mix two qian of the powder with urine from a young boy and administer three doses consecutively.
For severe injuries, first use Da Chengqi Tang (Major Order the Qi Decoction), or Xiao Chengqi Tang (Minor Order the Qi Decoction), or Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) to promote bowel movements and urination, thereby eliminating blood stasis. Women have different medications for specific times. The third dose consists of the white powder medicine. Mix with hot wine for administration; the method is the same as that for Huangmo San [Yellow Powder]. This formula treats various postpartum blood disorders in women. The fourth dose consists of Wuwanzi Dan [Black Pill], Danggui San [Angelica Powder], and Ruxiang San [Frankincense Powder]; the formulas for these two powders are found in the preceding section. Administer all with wine, without restriction on time. The administration method is the same as for Huangmo San and Baimo San. Only Ruxiang San differs. The Shquan Fang [Mountain Spring Formula] adds six additional ingredients: Poplar Bark (one jin), Raw Mustard Seed (ten pieces), Lantana Herb (one jin), Sandalwood (six liang), Agarwood (two liang), Szechuan Lovage Rhizome (one jin). The details of other formulas are listed below.
Da Chengqi Tang, Xiao Chengqi Tang, and Siwu Tang are all referenced in the preceding section.
Treats contusions and traumatic injuries where skin and flesh are lacerated, muscles and tendons are severed, necrotic blood stagnates, leading to abscesses and ulceration, causing extreme pain. Or injuries caused by overexertion affecting the shoulders and back... [text implies treatment for these areas] take blood-invigorating, swelling-reducing, and strength-restoring medicines.
Chuanwu Rhizome (processed) Caowu Rhizome (boiled in vinegar) Liquidambar Resin (separately ground, each three jin) Angelica Root (remove rhizome, soak in wine overnight, dry in shade) Red Peony Root (baked in flour coating) Ginger (baked wrapped in wet paper) Acanthopanacis Cortex (cleaned and bone removed) Platycodon Root (remove rhizome) Drynaria Rhizome (de-haired and stir-fried) Cyathula Root (boiled in vinegar seven times) Polygoni Multiflori Preparata Radix (boiled in black soybean wine seven times; the above herbs are each two jin) Anemarrhenae Rhizome (half jin) Myrrha (half jin) Achyranthes Root (two jin, soaked in wine seven times)
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take two qian per dose, mixed with salted wine. If the injury is in the upper body, take after meals; if in the lower body, take on an empty stomach. For whole-body injuries, take before bedtime. Pregnant women must not take this medicine.
