Pigs correspond to the Kidney, while the skin corresponds to the Lung. Therefore, this is used to treat sore throat caused by latent pathogenic factors and yin fire in the Shaoyin channel attacking the lung. However, only the white, greasy layer scraped from the skin after scalding should be used. If the thin skin with hair roots on the outside is used, it is inferior and ineffective, and does not accord with the instruction to "simmer until fragrant."
