(This condition is a disease of heavenly punishment. Physicians treating it may contract the infection or suffer misfortune themselves; this also applies to leprosy (Feng Da Chuang). If convulsions (Jing Feng) recur three times, they transform into epilepsy (Xian). During an attack, the patient falls to the ground making sounds; upon waking, they salivate and foam at the mouth; afterwards, their mind becomes clear.)
Qingxin Wentan Decoction (This formula soothes the Liver, resolves depression, clears fire, and transforms phlegm.)
Danggui Shen (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, one qian) Renshen (Ginseng Radix, five fen) Baifuling (Poria, unspecified amount) Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, unspecified amount) Banxia Qu (Pinelliae Fermentatum, unspecified amount) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, unspecified amount) Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, wine-fried, unspecified amount) Xiangfuzi (Cyperi Rhizoma, urine-fried, unspecified amount) Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, heart removed, seven fen each) Zhuru (Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam, unspecified amount) Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, dry-fried, unspecified amount) Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma, unspecified amount) Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, bran-fried, described as having the power to break through walls and topple battlements for treating phlegm, unspecified amount) Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, dry-fried, unspecified amount) Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, five fen each)
This prescription comprises two formulas under one name. Currently, a formula with mild nature and flavor is selected. However, Danxing (Arisaema cum Bile) is superior to Banxia Qu, and Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen) is superior to Maimendong. Practitioners should adapt and modify as appropriate. Baijiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) and Quanxie (Scorpio) are particularly excellent. When epilepsy (Xian) is just beginning, there must be blue veins behind the ear on the high bone, appearing like scattered threads. Upon seeing this, scratch them open immediately until blood flows; crying out enhances efficacy by promoting Qi circulation.
Another prescription: Dried meat or powder of large snakes with black flesh and white intestines; long-term use yields miraculous effects.
Another prescription: For those suffering from this condition for a long time, eating meat of cattle or horses struck by lightning is effective (verified).
Another prescription: Black pig heart, split open with a bamboo knife, boiled with powder of Jiujie Changpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma); taken orally on an empty stomach daily, two to three qian, yields divine effects.
Another prescription: For fetal epilepsy (Tai Xian), milk epilepsy (Nai Xian), and wind-induced epilepsy (Jing Xian), moxa-foxilate four points named Guiyan (located at the two corners above the nail of the thumb, shaped like a leek leaf), three moxa cones per point (these are key points for treating evil influences).
(Those who are fatigued and weak have Dian (catatonia/mental depression); those who are strong and vigorous have Kuang (mania/excitement). Dian is caused by insufficiency of Heart Blood; Kuang is caused by excess of Phlegm-Fire. I observe that patients with epilepsy (Xian), although resembling convulsions during attacks, return to normal clarity afterwards. Patients with Dian lose their true nature and often laugh foolishly. Patients with Kuang sing or cry, running about without stability. *Rumen* states: below ten years old is Xian, above ten years old is Dian. This refers to Xian transforming into Dian.)
Ningxin Huatan Decoction (Treats early-stage Dian and Kuang; Kuang is treatable, Dian is difficult to treat.)
Danxing (Arisaema cum Bile) Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, processed, dry-fried) Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) Chifuling (Poria Rubra, unspecified amount) Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, ginger-fried) Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma) Renshen (Ginseng Radix) Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, separately fried) Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, one qian each) Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, one slice)
Both Danxing and Banxia are overly drying; removing Banxia and substituting Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus) is advisable. First take this formula to resolve phlegm, then continue with Yangxin Qingxue Decoction.
Yangxin Qingxue Decoction
Danggui Shen (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix, dry-fried) Renshen (Ginseng Radix) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) Baifuling (Poria) Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma) Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, dry-fried) Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, separately fried) Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, one qian each) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, five fen)
For Dian, nourish Blood, calm the Spirit, and descend Phlegm-Fire; add Lianrou (Nelumbinis Semen, one qian), Yizhiren (Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Semen, salt-fried, five fen), and Zhusha (Cinnabar, five fen).
For Kuang, purge via bowel movement; add Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, wine-roasted) and Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas, one qian each).
If speaking nonsense, add Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, five fen).
If crying and shouting wildly, add Baihe (Lilii Bulbus, one qian).
Another prescription: For Dian, Kuang, and Xian, frequent consumption of ox heart blood is effective.
Another prescription: For sudden Kuang with delirious speech, burn Can Tui Zhi (Paper from silkworm cocoon) to retain its properties, take approximately one qian, mix with boiling water, and drink; immediate effect.
Another prescription: For any febrile disease causing Kuang for three days, Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas, three qian), Jizi Qing (Album Ovi Galli, one egg white), Shengqing (unspecified ingredient, one bi), mixed well-water (Jinghua Shui) and drunk; miraculous effect.
