Apoplexy (Zhong Feng) resulting in aphonia, mental confusion, and deviation of the mouth and eyes. The *Neijing* states: "Pathogenic wind is characterized by its mobility and frequent changes." Therefore, all diseases arise from wind. San Sheng San (Three Holy Powders) can be used to induce vomiting. If the patient is unconscious with clenched jaws, unable to swallow porridge or vegetables, decoct San Sheng San and instill it into the nostrils; once the phlegm-saliva is vomited out, the jaw will naturally open. Subsequently, administer Tong Sheng San (Unimpeded Holy Powder), Liang Ge San (Cooling Diaphragm Powder), Da Ren Shen Ban Xia Wan (Large Ginseng Pinellia Pill), Gui Ling Gan Lu San (Cinnamon Twig, Poria, and Sweet Dew Powder), etc. Strictly avoid foods that stir up wind and generate phlegm, such as chicken, pork, fish, rabbit, alcohol, vinegar, and buckwheat. The method for inducing vomiting to expel phlegm is detailed in the formula discussions.
Head wind causing dizziness and vertigo, intermittent numbness of the hands and feet, epigastric pain, and fullness/stuffiness in the heart and abdomen with a splashing sound upon palpation, can be treated with Du Sheng San (Unique Holy Powder) to induce vomiting. After vomiting, administer acrid-cool herbs to clear the upper jiao. Zhang Zhongjing stated: "This is caused by cold-phlegm knotting in the chest."
Whether in adults or children, the combination of wind, cold, and dampness pathogens forms Bi Syndrome (Obstruction Syndrome), accompanied by numbness and insensitivity of the hands and feet. Yu Jin San (Curcuma Longa Powder) can be used to induce vomiting. After vomiting, use Dao Shui Wan (Water-Guiding Pill) and Tong Jing San (Meridian-Unblocking Powder) to purge. After purging, administer acrid-warm agents to induce sweating, after which herbs for regulating menstruation and harmonizing blood, such as Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Root), Shao Yao (Peony Root), Ru Xiang (Frankincense), and Mo Yao (Myrrh), may be taken. If there is no improvement, these types of herbs should not be used further.
In young men and women presenting with sallow complexion, feverish body, emaciation, alternating chills and fever resembling malaria, incessant phlegm-cough, or asthma with facial edema, this is named Fei Wei (Lung Withering). Du Sheng San (Unique Holy Powder) can be used to induce vomiting. After vomiting, subsequently administer Ren Shen Chai Hu Yin Zi (Ginseng and Bupleurum Decoction), Xiao Chai Hu Yin Zi (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), added with Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Root), and similar formulas like Gui Ling Gan Lu San (Cinnamon Twig, Poria, and Sweet Dew Powder). The *Neijing* states: "The pathology of disease is the same for both men and women." In men, insufficiency of essence is due to the failure of flavors to transform; in women, stagnation of blood is due to the dysfunction of qi. It also states: "For deficiency of form, tonify with qi; for deficiency of essence, tonify with flavor." This refers to the principle above.
The pathology of Jue (Jue Syndrome) manifests as cold or heat in the hands, feet, and below the knees. The world generally transmits this as Hong Kong Foot (Podagra/Cold-Dampness of the foot), but how could they know that the *Neijing* originally contains no mention of Hong Kong Foot. When yang qi declines at the lower part, it is called Cold Jue; when yin qi declines at the lower part, it is called Heat Jue. Heat Jue presents with hot hands and feet, while Cold Jue presents with cold hands and feet. Yang meridians originate from the lateral aspect of the toes, and yin meridians originate from beneath the sole of the foot. When yang qi prevails, the soles become hot; when yin qi prevails, the soles become cold. The pathology of Heat Jue involves cold located in the upper part; the pathology of Cold Jue involves heat located in the upper part. For cold in the upper part, tonify Lung Metal with warm agents; for heat in the upper part, clear Heart Fire with cool agents, and the condition will resolve. For Shi Jue (Corpse Jue), Wei Jue (Flaccidity Jue), Feng Jue (Wind Jue), Qi Jue (Qi Jue), and Jiu Jue (Alcohol Jue), one can induce vomiting to restore consciousness, followed by administering herbs to descend fire, nourish water, harmonize blood, and unblock qi, combined with dietary support with porridge and food; none will fail to recover. As for other types of Jue, follow this pattern. Do not mistakenly attribute suspected cases to Wind-Qi, as the difference would be vast.
