Spontaneous abortion (Xichan) is mostly due to the woman's deficiency of Qi and Blood, leaving the fetus without nourishment; blood deficiency means the fetus lacks sustenance. Improper nourishment is like a withered branch causing fruit to fall, inevitably damaging the branch and leaves. Causes include excessive hunger or fullness, fatigue or idleness, disturbing the fetus, anger, worry, and internal/external cold injuring the Zi Zang (uterus). Treatment must be adjusted according to severity. This medicine has a mild nature, nourishes blood and tonifies Qi. It is advisable to take 4-5 doses monthly for improvement. Patients with a history of habitual miscarriage should also use it according to this method. Avoid anger, as well as raw/cold foods, alcohol, vinegar, and hot foods.
