[Outline of Pi Man (Fullness and Obstruction)]
The root causes of Pi Man (fullness and obstruction) lie in excess and deficiency patterns; differentiation must be clarified at the onset of the disease. Whether to employ purgation or tonification depends on weighing the circumstances, and prescriptions should be formulated according to the specific syndrome without negligence.
Li Zhong Tang Syndrome (Formula see Huo Luan section)
Er Chen Tang Syndrome (Formula see Ou Tu section)
Pi Man due to deficiency is suitable for tonification rather than purgation; the excellent medicine is Li Zhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction). If stagnation in the chest is due to excess, Er Chen Tang (Two Aged Decoction) has miraculous effects in dispersing and draining stagnation.
Ban Xia Xie Xin Tang Syndrome (Formula see Ou Tu section)
When semi-excess and semi-deficiency syndromes deepen, accompanied by unbearable alternating cold and heat, one may ask what medicine treats Pi Man: it is Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger), Ban Xia (Pinellia Rhizome), Huang Qin (Scutellaria Root), Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Da Zao (Jujube Fruit), and Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma).
[Outline of Shang Shi (Food Injury)]
Belching with a rotten odor followed by sudden fright and chest oppression, accompanied by abdominal fullness that cannot be tolerated; when food stagnates and fails to digest, how should it be treated? Regulating the stomach and descending rebellious Qi is particularly appropriate.
Ping Wei San Syndrome (Formula see Tun Suan section)
When retained food lingers and does not dissipate for a long time, diseases of the Stomach Meridian require prompt regulation. Administering Ping Wei San (Calm the Stomach Powder) often yields miraculous results, providing abundant power to push out stagnation.
Gua Di San Syndrome (Formula see Tan Yin section)
Da Cheng Qi Tang Syndrome (Formula see Shang Han section)
When food stagnates in the abdomen and fails to digest, the method should involve emesis or purgation without delay. For disorders in the upper Jiao (Upper Burner), Gua Di San (Melon Seed Powder) is required; for disorders in the lower Jiao (Lower Burner), Da Cheng Qi Tang (Major Order the Qi Decoction) is most suitable.
[Outline of Shang Jiu (Alcohol Injury)]
After drunkenness, sudden fright occurs, and alcohol illness forms, characterized by vexation, chest fullness, vomiting, difficulty in urination, and anorexia. What medicine should be used? This syndrome is suitable for Jie Cheng Tang (Resolve Intoxication Decoction).
Ge Hua Jie Cheng Tang (Ardisia Flower Resolve Intoxication Decoction)
(Based on the syndrome mentioned above)
Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Ze Xie (Alisma Rhizoma), Qing Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), and Ju Hong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) are combined; Fu Ling (Poria), Zhu Ling (Polyporus), Shen Qu (Massa Medicata Fermentata), and Ge Hua (Ardisiae Flos) are used together; Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus), and Dou Kou (Tsaoko Fructus) must all be included. This is an excellent formula for resolving intoxication and will surely be effective.
Wu Ling Modified Formula
(Attached to the syndrome)
Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Ze Xie (Alisma Rhizoma), Fu Ling (Poria), and Zhu Ling (Polyporus) are used together appropriately; Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex), and Ge Hua (Ardisiae Flos) are administered. It is gratifying to see the alcohol transformed via the Bladder; taking this excellent formula can cure the disease.
Qian Jin Zi Fa (Thousand Gold Immersion Method)
Boil water to make a decoction and store it in a container. Immerse the intoxicated body into it until it feels warm as if roasted. In a moment, the alcohol is completely dissipated. Implementing this immersion method also yields efficacy.
[Outline of Hui Chong (Roundworm)]
Disasters are brewed by Jue Yin Liver Wood Qi; the Middle Qi remains stagnant and blocked for a long time. Rotting qi generates worms, leading to severe illness. The treatment method is suitable for pill preparations using Wu Mei (Mume Fruit).
Wu Mei Wan (Mume Pill)
Hua Jiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), and Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) can reverse Jue Yin cold reversal. Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), and Wu Mei (Mume Fructus) are combined. Made into honeyed pills and taken every morning, they can kill hundreds of roundworms.
