[Outline on Beard and Hair] If the Qi and Blood of the Six Meridians are unharmed, the beard and hair can naturally grow beautiful and long. Once the root (Kidney Essence/Yuan Qi) declines and fails, the hair becomes scorched and withered, presenting an undesirable appearance.
Guizhi Baiye Tang (Cinnamon Twig and Cactus Twig Decoction)
Composed of Cactus Twig (Baiye), Ginger, Ginseng, and Cinnamon Twig, combined with Polygonum Multiflorum Vine (Shouwu), Donkey-hide Gelatin (Ejiao), Rehmannia Root (Dihuang), and Moutan Cortex (Danpi). It comprehensively treats scorched hair and falling beard by simultaneously nourishing Ying and Wei to consolidate the root. (Additions refer to the original book).
[Outline on Menstrual Channels] Tian Gui (Heavenly Water/Menstruation) is essentially a combination of Blood and Essence, arriving on time with fluctuations of deficiency and fullness. Regulating menstruation primarily requires supporting Yang Qi; when Wind and Wood are mild and harmonious, diseases do not arise.
Guizhi Danggui Taoren Tang (Cinnamon Twig, Angelica Sinensis, and Peach Kernel Decoction)
(Attached Syndrome) When menstrual channels encounter obstruction and closure, one must not lightly administer cold-natured medicines if Spleen deficiency exists. Use Safflower (Honghua), Poria (Fuling), Licorice (Gancao), and Peach Kernel (Taoren), combined with Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Xiongnu), Peony Root (Shaoyao), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), and Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi).
Aiye Jiangling Tang (Mugwort Leaf and Ginger-Poria Decoction)
(Attached Syndrome) Moutan Cortex (Danpi), Licorice (Gancao), and Polygonum Multiflorum Vine (Shouwu) are beneficial. Using Peony Root (Shaoyao), Mugwort Leaf (Aiye), Donkey-hide Gelatin (Ejiao), and Poria (Fuling) together with Ginger effectively addresses bleeding that has progressed to metrorrhagia and metrostaxis (Bang Lou). Saving critical conditions relies entirely on this unique prescription.
Syndrome of Aiye Jiangling Tang
(Prescription seen above) If menstruation occurs prematurely, coinciding with Liver Wood stagnation requiring dispersion and drainage, the crisis of metrorrhagia and metrostaxis lies latent hereafter. The previous prescription's main treatment is always suitable.
Jiangling Ejiao Tang (Ginger, Poria, and Donkey-hide Gelatin Decoction)
(Attached Syndrome) For menstruation that inexplicably arrives late, treatment requires Poria (Fuling) and Licorice (Gancao) combined with Moutan Cortex (Danpi). Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) and Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Xiongnu) should be used together for blood activation. Additionally, Donkey-hide Gelatin (Ejiao) and Ginger (Jiang) combined with Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi) are employed.
Linggui Danshen Tang (Poria, Cinnamon Twig, and Salvia Miltiorrhiza Decoction)
(Attached Syndrome) For menstrual blood that is dark purple, indicates cold, and lacks luster, or is accompanied by abdominal pain before menstruation, both situations utilize Ginseng (Renshen), Poria (Fuling), and Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi), decocted together with Moutan Cortex (Danpi), Licorice (Gancao), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Xiongnu), and Ginger (Jiang).
Linggui Danshen Tang (Prescription and Syndrome seen above)
Guidi Shaoyao Tang (Angelica Root, Rehmannia, and Peony Decoction)
(Attached Syndrome) Peony Root (Shaoyao), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), and Rehmannia Root (Dihuang) are combined with Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi), Poria (Fuling), Licorice (Gancao), Polygonum Multiflorum Vine (Shouwu), and "Ma" (likely referring to a specific herb like Portulaca or Oyster Shell in context, but translated literally as Ma). This formula is used for pain occurring after menstruation due to deficiency of the blood vessels.
Chaihu Dihuang Tang (Bupleurum and Rehmannia Decoction)
(Attached Syndrome) When a woman's menstruation is just beginning and the Blood Chamber suddenly experiences fright with heat entering, Bupleurum Root (Chaihu) and Scutellaria Root (Huangqin) combined with Peony Root (Shaoyao) are required, along with Rehmannia Root (Dihuang), Licorice (Gancao), and Moutan Cortex (Danpi).
(If exterior syndrome is unresolved, add Perilla Leaf (Ziyu) and Ginger (Shengjiang)).
Wenjing Syndrome (Warming the Channels Syndrome)
Kidney Water is cold and stagnant, unable to open; blood coagulates in the lower abdomen, leading to prolonged infertility. Excessive loss of Yin essence results in leukorrhea; menstruation may come excessively or not at all.
Wenjing Tang (Warming the Channels Decoction)
(Syndrome seen above) Composed of Donkey-hide Gelatin (Ejiao), Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi), Ginger (Jiang), Cornus Fruit (Yuzhu/Shanzhuyu - note: text says Yu, likely Cornus), Ginseng (Renshen), and Licorice (Gancao), combined with "Xia Ling" (likely Pinellia/Tuber Banxia given the classic formula context, but translated as Xia Ling), Moutan Cortex (Danpi), Peony Root (Shaoyao), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), and Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Xiongnu). Oyster Shell (Muli) is added due to seminal overflow. To break blood stasis, Peach Kernel (Taoren) and Turtle Shell (Biejia) are required for attack.
Linggui Chaihu Tang (Poria, Cinnamon Twig, and Bupleurum Decoction)
(Attached Syndrome) For bone-steaming night fever, what prescription to use? Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi), Peony Root (Shaoyao), Bupleurum Root (Chaihu), Poria (Fuling), and Pinellia Tuber (Banxia) are excellent. Licorice (Gancao) and Moutan Cortex (Danpi) must be used together; one cup brings immediate coolness.
