(If accompanied by dampness stagnation), use the method of resolving and descending. If accompanied by qi stagnation, use Muxiang Tang (Wood Fragrance Decoction) to resolve and descend. Alternatively, use only the powdered herbs, taking two qian per dose, mixed with wine or child's urine for administration. This is considered a "fairy medicine" for women.
Kulian Wan (Toosendan Pill): Most effective for treating leukorrhea (red and white vaginal discharge).
Herbs: Kulian (Fructus Toosendan, soaked in wine), Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus, stir-fried), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) (all in equal proportions).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into fine powder, bind with wine paste to form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take fifty pills per dose, administered with warm wine on an empty stomach.
(Zhu Danxi's Flexible Application) states: For any irregular menstruation in women, Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) should be used as the primary treatment formula. If there is continuous, lingering abdominal pain after menstruation ends, it belongs to blood deficiency; double the dosage of Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) and Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) in this formula. If accompanied by qi deficiency, add Renshen (Ginseng Radix) and Huangqi (Astragali Radix). If cold pathogens are involved, add Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma). If menstrual pain occurs in waves just before menstruation begins, alternating between onset and cessation, this indicates excess of blood and qi; use Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) in the formula, and add Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Taoren (Persicae Semen), Honghua (Carthami Flos), Yuanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma), and Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex). If menstruation frequently arrives ahead of schedule, this indicates blood heat; use Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) in the formula, and add Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), and Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix). If menstruation frequently arrives late, thin individuals likely suffer from blood deficiency; double the dosage of Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) and Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) in the formula, add Huangqi (Astragali Radix) and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), and add a small amount of Honghua (Carthami Flos) and Taoren泥 (Persicae Semen paste) as guiding herbs for generating blood. Obese individuals generally have qi deficiency with phlegm accumulation, causing obstruction of ascending and descending mechanisms; remove Dihuang from the formula, and add Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), and Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma). If menstruation is delayed and the blood is dark purple and clotted, this indicates blood heat, often accompanied by abdominal pain; use Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) in the formula, and add Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Yuanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma), Wulingzhi (Trogopterori Faeces), Ruxiang (Olibanum), and Moyao (Myrrha). If menstruation is delayed and the blood color is pale, this indicates excessive phlegm and insufficient blood; use Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) combined with Erchen Tang (Two Aged Things Decoction) for decoction and administration. For obese women who menstruate only once every two or three months, this indicates excessive phlegm and body fat blocking the meridians; use Daotan Tang (Phlegm-Expelling Decoction) added with Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizome), Gui (Danggui), Xiangfu, Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), and Caizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma). If menstruation starts and stops abruptly, accompanied by alternating chills and fever resembling malaria, combine Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) with Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) for decoction and administration. If there is wandering, lingering abdominal pain three to five days after menstruation ends, this indicates that blood flow has resumed but stagnant qi has not yet fully circulated; add Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) and Binglang (Arecae Semen) to the formula for decoction and administration, resulting in immediate cure.
(Ancestral Prescription)
Treats amenorrhea in young unmarried women, gradually leading to abdominal distension, as well as traumatic injuries in men from falling off horses or bumps, leading to accumulated blood stasis and potential development of blood gu disease (abdominal mass due to blood stasis). All these conditions can be treated with a formula named Taonuo Yinzi (Peach Slave Decoction).
Herbs: Taonuo (Dried immature peaches remaining on the tree, harvested in winter or the first lunar month), Shufen (Mus Mouse Excrement, specifically male mouse excrement which is pointed at both ends), Yuanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Wulingzhi (Trogopterori Faeces) (all stir-fried above), Sharen (Amomi Fructus), Taoren (Persicae Semen, skin and tips removed, ground separately).
Preparation and Administration: All herbs in equal proportions, ground into fine powder. Take three qian per dose, mixed with warm wine on an empty stomach.
Another Method: Treats amenorrhea.
Use only one he of Shufen (Mouse Excrement), slightly stir-fried and ground finely, mixed with warm wine for administration, yielding immediate effect.
Another Formula: Treats metrorrhagia (uterine bleeding) in women that does not stop.
Burn Cang'ercao (Xanthii Herba) until carbonized (preserving its nature), mix with good wine for administration to stop bleeding immediately. Alternatively, mix into Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), which is also effective.
(Clinical Case)
An elderly woman aged fifty-three suffered from prolonged metrorrhagia that did not respond to various medications. I used Xiangdou (Castaneae Fructus Pericarpium) and Cang'ergen (Xanthii Radix) burned until carbonized, mixed with Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Maohua (Miscanthi Flower), and Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) decocted in water for administration. Her menstrual bleeding stopped thereafter and did not recur.
