[From *Huoyou Xinshu*] Rusheng Bingzi (Like-Sage Pills): Treats pediatric smallpox/rubella where toxic heat attacks the throat, causing swelling and pain. (Zhang Yuansu stated: This formula follows the meridian; this single prescription is an example of following the meridian.)

Grind the above into powder, add Zhuye (Leaf of Bambusa) to decoct together, and take slowly in small doses. (Zhang Yuansu stated: Reducing Maidong and Zhuye yields Ganjie Shunianzi Tang [Licorice and Platycodi and Arctii Decoction], treating throat obstruction.)
Shunianzi Tang (Arctii Decoction), Xiaodu Yin (Detoxification Decoction) (Both formulas are listed under the previous section "Slow Eruption of Smallpox/Rubella".)

[From Zhu Danxi] Doufeng (Smallpox Wind) must be differentiated by deficiency and excess of Qi and Blood, monitored by days of onset; it often involves deficiency of Qi and Blood. In deficiency cases, use blood-nourishing agents to assist, slightly aided by wind-dispelling herbs. In excess cases, Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) and Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae) are the sovereign herbs, with Lianqiao (Fructus Forsythiae), Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae), Xuduan (Radix Dipsaci), etc., as ministering herbs. If it belongs to cold, Chen’s formula may be used.
Ms. Yang, aged over ten, had incomplete eruption of smallpox/rubella. After scabs fell off, she experienced joint pain, poor appetite, and occasional night fever. This indicates residual toxins remaining inside, with severe deficiency making dredging difficult. One must employ unblocking methods within tonification. This formula governs the condition.
