Treats the same syndrome as mentioned previously.
Sheng Shigao (Raw Gypsum Fibrosum, 2 liang, finely ground) Aspirin (1 wa)
For the above two ingredients, first dissolve white sucrose in water to administer the Aspirin. Then decoct the Shigao into a large bowl of soup. When the patient is sweating profusely over the whole body, drink two-thirds of the hot Shigao soup while it is still hot, to assist the Aspirin in releasing the exterior. After the sweating subsides, if after two or three hours there is still residual heat, the remaining Shigao soup can be drunk warm. If the medication is finished and the heat has not completely subsided, one may use only Sheng Shigao decocted in water, or add a small amount of Jingmi (Oryzae Semen Germum, rice germ) to the decoction, drinking it slowly and warm until the heat is completely gone; no further Aspirin is needed.
Furthermore: This decoction can not only substitute for Hanjie Tang (Cold-Resolving Decoction), but also for Liangjie Tang (Cooling-Resolving Decoction). When substituting for Liangjie Tang, the dosage of Shigao should be halved.

Letter from Wang XX of Jiangsu Pingtai:
Child XX, at the transition between autumn and summer, suddenly developed high fever, with a dull spirit, closed eyes, and refusal to eat. My mother was greatly alarmed upon seeing this. Because I had a firm conviction in my mind, I said, "There is no need to worry." I immediately used the Shigao Aspirin Tang from the book, following the original prescription's administration method. After taking it, the spirit cleared and the fever subsided. On the second day at noon, the fever returned, so I boldly used the original prescription again. Because the child had much phlegm and cough, I added Qing Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum cum Alumine et Zingibere, prepared Pinellia) and Niuzi (Arctii Fructus, Arctium Fruit). The child recovered completely.
Treats Warm Disease (Wen Bing) with heat in both the interior and exterior, occasional sweating, white tongue coating, and a floating-slippery pulse.
Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, Forsythia Fruit, 5 qian) Chantui (Cicadae Periostracum, Cicada Slough, 2 qian, feet and dirt removed) Sheng Shigao (Raw Gypsum Fibrosum, 6 qian, crushed fine) Sheng Hangshao (Raw Paeoniae Radix Alba, White Peony Root, 5 qian) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Licorice Root, 1 qian)
If the pulse is floating-slippery and additionally has a surging quality, Sheng Shigao should be used in the amount of 1 liang.
Treats colds lingering in the Taiyang (Greater Yang) channel for a long time, leading to heat accumulation in the Bladder, with red and scanty/difficult urination. Or due to urinary retention, resulting in loose stools/diarrhea. Also treats early-stage Damp-Warmth (Shi Wen), characterized by aversion to cold and high fever, with a grey, slippery, and greasy tongue coating.
Huashi (Talcum, Talc, 1 liang) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Licorice Root, 2 qian) Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, Forsythia Fruit, 3 qian) Chantui (Cicadae Periostracum, Cicada Slough, 3 qian, feet and dirt removed) Sheng Hangshao (Raw Paeoniae Radix Alba, White Peony Root, 4 qian)
If loose stools occur, the dosage of Gancao must be doubled.
An elderly man, aged sixty-five, suffered from Wind-Warmth (Feng Wen). Within six or seven days, his entire body became swollen, and the scrotum enlarged to the size of a watermelon. Multiple medications were ineffective. More than ten days later, he sought my diagnosis. The pulse was surging, slippery, and slightly floating; the heart felt hot and thirsty; urination was difficult and painful/hot; saliva/phlegm rose upward; slight panting accompanied these symptoms; the tongue coating was thick and white. I prescribed this decoction, adding 1 liang of Sheng Shigao. The patient sweated slightly all over, urination became smooth, and half of the swelling subsided, though heat and thirst remained. Consequently, I doubled the Sheng Shigao in the formula. After taking it, the patient sweated slightly again, the swelling completely disappeared, and all diseases were cured. Note: This is the heat of Wind-Warmth entering the Bladder Fu-organ from the Taiyang channel, obstructing the water passages, while the Yangming Stomach Fu-organ is also becoming full/excess. From this, we see how absurd those who claim that Warm Diseases enter the Hand meridians but not the Foot meridians are!
