Treatment for yaws (yangmei chuang) toxin spreading throughout the body, or ascending to the vertex, or descending to the feet, or penetrating deeply into the bone marrow. Regardless of whether it is chronic or acute, mild or severe, administration of this prescription yields miraculous effects. The scabs and sores will fall off within three to four days.
Jing Qingfen (Calomel, 2 qian, stir-fried until a glossy color appears, then reduced by two-thirds of its weight, and ground into fine powder; note that stir-frying moderates the intense nature of this drug, but over-frying may render it ineffective; the heat control should be moderate, using the large flakes constitutes Jing Qingfen.) Jing Hongfen (Red Powder/Red Mercuric Oxide, 1 qian, ground into fine powder; it must contain many purple-black flakes to be effective.) Lu Fengfang (Honeycomb from wild bees exposed to dew, one piece the size of a fist; for larger pieces, use half; for smaller pieces, use two. Stir-fry until half black and half yellow, then grind into fine powder. During stir-frying, press the material firmly against the pot bottom with an object.) Walnut (10 pieces, peeled and crushed, stir-fried until half black and half yellow, ground into fine powder, wrapped in several layers of paper, and pressed to remove the oil; excessive oil makes it unsuitable for pill formation.)
The above herbs are combined with cooked jujube flesh to form pills, sized like soybeans, dried in the sun, and divided into three doses. Administration requires taking the pills on an empty stomach in the early morning with warm water; food intake should be delayed until noon. Avoid greasy/fishy foods for half a month. After ingestion, hold a willow stick in the mouth; expectorate phlegm and saliva immediately. The more expectorated, the better. When sleeping, place the willow stick horizontally in the mouth, tying a string to each end, and knotting the other ends behind the head to prevent dropping during sleep. Replace the willow stick frequently; continue this practice even after finishing the medication, only stopping when no more phlegm/saliva is produced. Take the medicine once daily; if nausea is severe, take it every other day. Preparation must be done personally, weighing Qingfen and Hongfen with extreme precision using standard government scales (Ku Cheng). Qingfen must be weighed accurately before stir-frying.
Many doubt that this prescription causes sterility, which is incorrect. Although Qingfen is potent, its intensity is greatly reduced by stir-frying. Hongfen has a similar nature to Qingfen but is used in small amounts (1 qian) and divided over three days. The sweet and緩 (soothing) nature of jujube flesh detoxifies, while ten walnuts strongly tonify the Kidney channel to prevent adverse effects. With proper combination, administration is beneficial and harmless.
Qingfen is produced by sublimating mercury with alum stones; Hongfen is also produced by sublimating mercury with alum stones, saltpeter, and other drugs. Their heavy nature allows them to penetrate deeply; their production via sublimation allows them to ascend and disperse. Thus, they reach the bone marrow internally, connect with the Zang-Fu organs centrally, and extend to the skin externally. They effectively control toxins and fluids throughout the body, utilizing the Yangming meridians as a pathway, exiting through the gums (upper gums belong to Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian, lower gums belong to Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian). Honeycomb guides the body's toxic fluids to exit through the gums and possesses the subtle function of "using poison to treat poison," serving as an assistant and guide (Zuo Shi) to Qingfen and Hongfen. The more toxic fluid expelled, the faster internal toxins are eliminated. Walnuts are moist and oily, indicating their ability to tonify bones and benefit marrow. They also resolve toxins from scabies and tinea, implying efficacy against other sore toxins. Added to this prescription, they tonify healthy Qi while expelling pathogens, making it easy to eliminate toxins deep in the bone marrow. Jujube flesh is used for pills due to its sweet and soothing nature, which moderates the harshness of the two powders and protects the spleen and stomach from toxic damage.
After administration, gum swelling and occasional ulceration are expected, as toxic fluids exit through this area. Once internal toxins are cleared, external symptoms heal spontaneously. Alternatively, gargle with decoctions of Licorice Root (Gancao), Borax (Pengsha), and Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua).
There are three types of honeycomb: Yellow large-bee combs are multi-layered and highly toxic, unsuitable for use. I have seen cases where decoction was used for toothache, resulting in gum ulceration and loss of over ten teeth. Yellow small-bee combs are very small with pores the size of mung beans; although not highly toxic, their potency is weak and unsuitable. The ideal type comes from bees that are yellow and reddish, about one cun in size, often building nests in houses, commonly called horse bees (Ma Feng). Their combs are most suitable for medicine. Combs found on trees are rare; if unavailable, house combs can be used, though the dosage should be slightly increased.
Case 1: Mr. Ma, over forty years old, initially contracted gonorrhea toxin, which later transformed into syphilis. He sought medical treatment. The toxin showed no visible signs on the body, but he experienced severe heaviness and dizziness in the head, occasional irritability, and pain in many joints. Notably, cartilage-like growths appeared around his eyebrows, eyes, and finger joints; Western medicine also attributes this to syphilitic condensation. I dared not guarantee a cure, but fortunately, his constitution was not too emaciated. I prescribed one dose of Xisui Dan to be taken in four divided doses. After resting for ten days, he took another dose, reducing the amount by one-third. After another ten days, he took a third dose, reducing the amount by another one-third compared to the second, completing each dose over four days. The illness gradually resolved. Cartilage lesions first inflamed, then slowly subsided and disappeared. Within four cycles of ten days, all diseases were cured.
Case 2: A child surnamed Hao contracted the disease through breastfeeding. Throat ulcers prevented eating, and anal ulcers were severe, implying gastrointestinal ulceration. His father asked if there was hope. I replied, "If you trust my prescription, he can still be saved." I gave him six pills of Xisui Dan, ground finely and mixed with water, administered three times, resulting in complete recovery.
Case 3: A young child in Fengtian had hereditary syphilis. At age six, he could not walk, and his body was covered in boils that healed and recurred. He stayed in a Japanese hospital in Dalian for nearly a year without improvement. Upon seeking treatment at our clinic, he was emaciated and ate little. First, we regulated his Spleen and Stomach to improve appetite. Gradually, we added detoxifying herbs such as Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua), Forsythia Fruit (Lianqiao), and Trichosanthes Root (Tianhuafen). His physique strengthened, and sores decreased, but the root of the toxin remained. We then administered approximately 5 fen of Xisui Dan, ground into powder (since the child could not swallow pills), mixed with warm water, taken once every three days, alongside a daily herbal decoction. After ten doses of Xisui Dan, sores ceased appearing. He continued the decoction for over a month, combined with Yin-nourishing and Kidney-tonifying herbs, including three walnuts per dose to strengthen bones (the fact that chewing walnuts instantly relieves toothache caused by sour foods is clear evidence of this property). Consequently, he regained normal walking ability. These two cases demonstrate that Xisui Dan’s miraculous efficacy ranks first among syphilis treatments. Furthermore, conventional syphilis treatments (injections or oral meds) often leave patients with limb pain post-cure because they clear blood toxins but fail to clear bone toxins. Residual bone toxicity often leads to recurrence after long periods or even decades. Re-administering this pill cures bone pain immediately and prevents future recurrence, a fact confirmed by my repeated trials.
