[Prescription Verse] Lei (a type of skin eruption resembling broad beans) arises from wind pathogen invasion during sweating. Its appearance resembles broad beans or the shape of thunder stones. For those with severe itching during the day, Qinjiao Tang is suitable; for those with worsening symptoms at night, Danggui Yin should be taken to bring relief.
[Annotation] This condition is colloquially known as "Ghost Rice Wheals." It is caused by catching wind after sweating, or sleeping outdoors in the cool air, where wind pathogens easily attack individuals with deficient exterior defenses. Initially, the skin itches, followed by the emergence of flat wheals resembling broad beans, accumulating into patches. For severe daytime itching, Qinjiao Niubang Tang is indicated; for severe nighttime itching, Danggui Yinzi is indicated. Externally, soak Baibu (Stemonae Radix) in distilled spirits, dip blue cloth in the liquor, and rub the affected area. Strictly avoid wind and cold for effective results.
Formula: Qinjiao Niubang Tang
Composition: Qinjiao (Gentianae Rhizoma et Radix, 1.5 qian), Niubanzi (Fructus Arctii, stir-fried and crushed), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, bran-fried), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, honey-fried), Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, shaved), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw), Heishen (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, each 1 qian).
Decoct two zhong of water until reduced to eight fen, and take orally.
[Prescription Verse] Qinjiao Niubang Tang treats wind lingering in the skin causing Lei eruptions resembling hemp seeds or beans. The formula contains Zhike, Mahuang, Xijiao (shaved), Huangqin, Fangfeng, Gancao, Heishen, and Shengma.
Another Formula: Danggui Yinzi (See Scabies section)
[Prescription Verse] Jinying Chuang (Oozing Eczema) is triggered by fire, dampness, and wind. Yellow fluid oozes and spreads, resembling scabies, spreading into patches with incessant itching. Treatment should focus on clearing heat and dispelling wind.
[Annotation] This disease initially resembles scabies, with constant itching that spreads uncontrollably. Scratching causes yellow fluid to ooze, leading to extensive oozing patches. It is caused by Heart Fire, Spleen Dampness, and Wind pathogen invasion. The Classic states: When annual Fire is excessive, severe cases present with body heat and skin oozing lesions. Zhang Zhongjing stated: Lesions spreading from the mouth to the limbs are favorable (Shun); those spreading from the limbs to the mouth are unfavorable (Ni). Initially, administer Shengma Xiaodu Yin with added Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) and Chuan Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma). If scratching breaks the skin and causes bleeding, Xiaofeng San is indicated, along with external application of Qingge San for cure. If the pulse is slow and the patient cannot eat, with continuous oozing of yellow fluid, this indicates Spleen failure, which is an incurable condition.
Formula: Shengma Xiaodu Yin (See Impetigo section)
Xiaofeng San (See Neck Button Wind section)
Qingge San (See Nasal An Bi section)
