夜啼寒热因胎受，须将形色辨分明，寒属脾经面青白，手腹俱冷曲腰疼，
面赤溺闭属心热，热用导赤寒钓藤，若无寒热表裹证，古法蝉花散最精。

小儿初生夜啼，其因有二，一日脾寒，一日心热，皆受自胎中，
观其形色便知病情矣，
如面色青白，手腹俱冷，不欲吮乳，曲腰不伸者，脾寒也，□藤饮主之，

川芎 白当归 茯神 白芍炒 茯苓 甘香 木香煨 □藤□ 引用红枣水煎服。

(导赤散) 方见小便不通。
(蝉花散) 蝉蜕不拘多少用下半截 以上研细末，每服少许，薄荷煎汤调下。

初生门
夜啼症是由于胎儿在母体内受寒热邪气所致，必须通过观察面色和形体来辨别清楚。若属脾经寒证，则见面色青白，双手及腹部均冷，因腰部疼痛而蜷缩弯腰；若面赤、小便闭塞不通，则属心经热证。热证用导赤散治疗，寒证用钓藤饮治疗。如果没有寒热表里等明显证候，古法中的蝉花散最为精妙。

小儿出生后夜间啼哭，原因主要有两种：一是脾寒，二是心热，这两种情况都是受自胎中。观察其面色和形体即可知晓病情。例如：面色青白，手脚和腹部都冷，不想吃奶，蜷缩腰部不能伸直，这是脾寒，用钓藤饮主治；面色红赤，嘴唇红润，身体和腹部都发热，小便不利，烦躁不安且多啼哭，这是心热，用导赤散主治。如果没有上述形证，只是单纯多啼哭的，使用蝉花散最合适。
（钓藤饮）
川芎、当归、茯神、炒白芍、茯苓、甘草、煨木香、钩藤，引用红枣水煎服。

新生儿全身皮肤颜色如金色，这是由于湿热熏蒸，胎儿在母体内受邪较深。治疗方法应当渗湿兼清热，生地黄汤和犀角散两方效果神奇。

胎黄症，表现为全身面目皆黄，颜色如金，是因为孕妇体内湿热太盛，小儿在胎中受到母体热毒的影响，所以出生后有此证。治疗方法应当渗湿清热，必须根据病情轻重分别治疗。颜色微黄的用生地黄汤，颜色深黄的用犀角散。
（生地黄汤） 生地黄、赤芍药、川芎、当归、天花粉、赤茯苓、泽泻、猪苓、生甘草、茵陈蒿，引用灯心草水煎，饭前服用。
（方歌）

Night crying (Yeti) is caused by the fetus receiving cold or heat pathogens in the womb; one must clearly distinguish the condition by observing facial color and physical form. If it belongs to Spleen Cold, the face appears cyanotic and pale, with cold hands and abdomen, and the infant curls the waist in pain. If the face is red and urination is obstructed, it belongs to Heart Heat. For heat, use Daochi San (Carpesium Powder); for cold, use Diaoteng Yin (Uncaria Decoction). If there are no exterior or interior signs of cold or heat, the ancient method using Chanhuas San (Cicada Flower Powder) is most exquisite.

Night crying in newborns has two main causes: Spleen Cold and Heart Heat, both acquired from the mother during gestation. The condition can be known by observing facial features and body shape. For instance, if the face is cyanotic and pale, hands and abdomen are cold, the infant refuses to suckle milk, and curls the waist unable to straighten, this is Spleen Cold, treated primarily with Diaoteng Yin. If the face is red, lips are crimson, body and abdomen are hot, urination is difficult, and the infant is irritable and cries frequently, this is Heart Heat, treated primarily with Daochi San. If none of the above symptoms are present, but the infant simply cries frequently, Chanhuas San is most appropriate.
(Diaoteng Yin)
Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Poria (Fushen), White Peony Root (Baishao, stir-fried), Poria (Fuling), Licorice Root (Gancao), Aromatic Magnolia Bark (Muxiang, baked), Uncaria Rhynchophylla (Gouteng). Decoct with Red Dates water and take orally.
(Verse Formula)
Night crying stems from Spleen Cold, Diaoteng Yin cures it well; Chuanxiong, Danggui, Fushen, Baishao, Fuling, Gancao, Muxiang, Gouteng, and Red Dates decocted together.
(Daochi San) See under "Obstructed Urination".
(Chanhuas San) Cicada Slough (Chantui), quantity unspecified, use only the lower half. Grind all into fine powder. Take a small amount each time, mixed with Mint Decoction.

Newborn Section
The newborn's entire body resembles gold in color; this results from damp-heat steaming, indicating deep pathogenic influence received in the womb. The treatment method should involve draining dampness and clearing heat; Shengdi Huang Tang (Rehmannia Decoction) and Xijiao San (Rhinoceros Horn Powder) are miraculous formulas.

Taihuang (Neonatal Jaundice) presents with yellowing of the whole body and face, resembling gold. This occurs because the pregnant woman had excessive damp-heat, and the fetus absorbed the mother's heat toxicity during gestation, resulting in this condition after birth. The treatment should drain dampness and clear heat, differentiated by severity. For mild yellowing, use Shengdi Huang Tang; for deep yellowing, use Xijiao San.
(Shengdi Huang Tang) Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdihuang), Red Peony Root (Chishaoyao), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Trichosanthes Root (Tianhuafen), Red Poria (Chifuling), Alisma Rhizoma (Zexie), Polyporus (Zhuling), Raw Licorice Root (Gancao), Artemisiae Scopariae Herba (Yinchenhao). Decoct with Centipede Grass (Dengxincao) water and take before meals.
(Verse Formula)
For neonatal jaundice, use Dihuang Tang; Four Substances, Trichosanthes, Red Poria are good; Alisma, Polyporus, Licorice, etc., add Artemisiae Scopariae Herba and decoct in water to taste.
(Xijiao San) Rhinoceros Cornu (Xijiao, sliced), Artemisiae Scopariae Herba (Yinchenhao), Trichosanthes Root (Gualougen), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), Raw Licorice Root (Gancao), Gentianae Radix (Longdancao), Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdi), Halloysitum Rubrum (Hanshuishi, calcined). Decoct in water and take at any time.

For neonatal jaundice, there is also Xijiao San; Licorice, Rhinoceros Horn, and Artemisiae Scopariae Herba; Cimicifuga, Gentian, and Rehmannia together; Halloysitum Rubrum combined with Trichosanthes Root.
