Lujiao San (Deer Horn Powder), Lianqiao San (Forsythia Powder)
8. For Du Ru (cracked nipples with sores postpartum), use Gancao Lujiao San (Licorice and Deer Horn Powder), mixed with egg yolk and applied after heating in a copper vessel. Lianqiao San consists of Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Baishao (White Peony Root), Bailian (Moutan Cortex), Shegan (Belamcandae Rhizoma), Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Gancao (Licorice Root), and Xingren (Prunus Seed). If the condition is Ru Xuan (sagging breasts due to blood stasis attacking upward from postpartum blood stasis), where the breasts become elongated and hang below the abdomen, one should drink Xiong Gui Tang (Chuanxiong and Angelica Decoction) frequently and fumigate the nose with the steam of the remaining herbs; this will dissipate the stasis and cause the breasts to rise. If there is no improvement, apply mashed Bi Ma Ren (Ricinus Seed) to the Baihui acupoint on the top of the head, and remove it immediately once the breasts retract; do not delay.
[Note] Sores on the nipple are called Du Ru, which should be treated with external application of Lujiao San. This involves grinding Deer Horn and Licorice into powder, mixing with egg yolk, heating in a copper vessel, and applying. Internally, take Lianqiao San, which contains Saposhnikovia Root, Cimicifugae Rhizoma, Scrophulariae Radix, White Peony Root, Moutan Cortex, Belamcandae Rhizoma, Natrii Sulfas, Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, Licorice Root, and Prunus Seed. If postpartum blood stasis attacks upward, causing the breasts to become slender and hang below the abdomen, it is called Ru Xuan. One should decoct Xiong Gui Tang (Chuanxiong and Angelica Decoction) strongly and drink it intermittently, using the residual herb steam to fumigate the nose, thereby dissipating stasis and raising the breasts. If they do not rise, mash Ricinus Seeds and apply them to the center of the vertex; remove immediately upon retraction.
Xiong Gui Yin is identical to Foshou San, see the first volume for the formula.
