慢惊风这一证候,有的源于先天禀赋虚弱,属于土虚木盛(脾胃虚弱,肝气亢盛)的情况;
体质虚弱且夹杂痰浊者,以醒脾汤为主方治疗;

After the acute convulsion (Ji Jing Feng) has subsided but the pathogenic factors are not yet fully cleared, if phlegm-heat is retained, Hu Po Bao Long Wan (Amber Embracing Dragon Pill) is effective. If the child exhibits spirit deficiency and weak qi accompanied by phlegm-heat, Qing Xin Di Tan Tang (Clear Heart and Eliminate Phlegm Decoction) should be used to demonstrate its efficacy in clearing heart fire and eliminating phlegm.
[Annotation]
The treatment of acute convulsion often employs cold-natured medicines; this is a method of "treating the branch in emergencies."
However, once the phlegm-fire symptoms subside slightly, one must immediately regulate and tonify qi and blood.
If cold medicines are overused, it will inevitably lead to the transformation into conditions such as chronic convulsion (Man Jing Feng).
Therefore, when the pathogen of fright has retreated but residual heat remains, Hu Po Bao Long Wan (Amber Embracing Dragon Pill) should be the primary formula.
For cases with spleen deficiency and excessive phlegm, Qing Xin Di Tan Tang (Clear Heart and Eliminate Phlegm Decoction) is appropriate as the primary formula.
(Hu Po Bao Long Wan [Amber Embracing Dragon Pill]) Ingredients: Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Hu Po (Fossile Succinum), Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood), each 5 qian; Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), 1 liang, stir-fried; Gan Cao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma), 4 qian, honey-fried; Tan Xiang (Santalum Album Lignum); Tian Zhu Huang (Bambusae Concretio Silicea); Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), bran-stir-fried; Zhi Shi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), each 5 qian, bran-stir-fried; Chen Sha (Cinnabaris); Dan Xing (Arisarmitis Rhizoma preparatum), 5 qian; Chi Jin Bo (Laminæ Aureae Folium), 20 pieces.
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills, each weighing 1 qian. Older children take one pill; infants take half a pill, dissolved and taken with light ginger soup.
(Qing Xin Di Tan Tang [Clear Heart and Eliminate Phlegm Decoction]) Ingredients: Zhu Ru (Bambusae Caulis in Taenia), Ju Hong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Jiang Zhi Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma preparatum with Ginger), Fu Ling (Poria), Zhi Shi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), bran-stir-fried, Sheng Gan Cao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), qu xin (heart removed), Zao Ren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen), chao (stir-fried), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Chang Pu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), Nan Xing (Arisarmitis Rhizoma), Chuan Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma). Jing Feng Men (Section on Convulsions)
Chronic convulsion (Man Jing Feng) often arises from weak congenital endowment or is caused by damage due to overly harsh medications. The spasms occur slowly, starting and stopping intermittently. The complexion is pale or mixed with cyan-yellow, the body temperature is warm, the patient sleeps deeply with eyes closed or slightly open during sleep. The pulse is slow, the spirit appears despondent, and the stool is green. For qi deficiency with phlegm retention, Xing Pi Tang (Awaken Spleen Decoction) is effective; for spleen deficiency with liver hyperactivity, Huan Gan Li Pi Tang (Soothe Liver and Regulate Spleen Decoction, also known as Huan Gan Ling) is effective.
[Annotation]
This condition of chronic convulsion may stem from weak congenital endowment, representing earth deficiency and wood excess (spleen deficiency and liver hyperactivity);
or it may result from the overuse of harsh purgative medicines during the acute phase, leading to this condition.
During an episode, spasms are slow, intermittent.
The complexion is pale yellow or a mix of cyan and white; the body is necessarily warm; the patient is lethargic with eyes closed,
or sleeps with eyes partially exposed; the pulse is slow; the spirit is despondent; the stool is green.
This indicates spleen and stomach weakness; treatment should primarily focus on cultivating and tonifying primordial qi.
For those who are deficient and have phlegm retention, Xing Pi Tang (Awaken Spleen Decoction) is the primary formula.
For those with spleen deficiency and liver hyperactivity, Huan Gan Li Pi Tang (Soothe Liver and Regulate Spleen Decoction) is the primary formula.
(Xing Pi Tang [Awaken Spleen Decoction]) Ingredients: Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Tu Chao Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, soil-stir-fried), Fu Ling (Poria), Tian Ma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Jiang Zhi Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma preparatum with Ginger), Ju Hong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Quan Xie (Scorpio), du qu (poison removed), Jiang Can (Bombyx Batryticatus), chao (stir-fried), Zhi Gan Cao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Cang Mi (Oriza Sativa Granum). Add fresh ginger water for decoction and administration.
