For Baihe Bing (Lily Disease, a condition characterized by mental restlessness and somatic symptoms resembling an illness), if it persists after diaphoresis (sweating therapy), Baili Zhimu Tang (Lily and Anemarrhena Decoction) is indicated.
[Annotation]
Baihe Bing should not be treated with diaphoresis. If misapplied and the disease remains unresolved, it leads to dryness. Baili Zhema Tang is used to clear heat and moisten dryness.
Baili (Lilii Bulbus, broken apart) 7 bulbs; Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, sliced) 3 liang.
First, wash the Lilii Bulbus with water and soak it overnight. When white foam appears on the surface, discard this water. Then, decoct the Lilii Bulbus in 2 sheng of spring water until reduced to 1 sheng, and strain off the dregs. Separately, decoct the Anemarrhenae Rhizoma in 2 sheng of spring water until reduced to 1 sheng, and strain off the dregs. Finally, combine the two decoctions and decoct them together again until reduced to 1.5 sheng. Divide into two doses and take warm.

The disease known as Huhuo (Hu-Huo Disease, characterized by corrosive ulcers of the mouth, throat, and genitals) presents with symptoms similar to Shanghan (Cold Damage Syndrome). The patient is silent, desires sleep, but cannot close their eyes, feeling restless lying down or sitting up. Corrosion of the throat is termed "Huo" (Confusion); corrosion of the yin organs/genitals is termed "Hu" (Fox). The patient has no desire to eat, dislikes the smell of food, and facial color fluctuates between red, black, and white. If erosion occurs in the upper part (throat), causing hoarseness, Gancao Xiexin Tang (Licorice and Pinellia Decoction for Draining the Epigastrium) is indicated. If erosion occurs in the lower part (genitals/anus), causing dryness of the throat, Kushen Tang (Sophora Root Decoction) is used for washing. If erosion occurs at the anus, Xionghuang Fumigation (Realgar Fumigation) is applied.
[Annotation]
"Huhuo" is an ancient name for conditions such as gan gangrene (noma/cancrum oris) and chancroid. In modern times, these are simply referred to as "gan". Chancroid corresponds to "Hu", causing erosion and ulceration of the anus and genitals; gan gangrene corresponds to "Huo", causing erosion of the throat, rotting of gums, tooth loss, and perforation of cheeks and lips. This disease often arises from residual pathogens combined with dampness after Shanghan, or following exanthematous diseases, or after chronic abdominal masses and diarrhea; its harm is similar in all cases. "Symptoms similar to Shanghan" refers to fever and aversion to cold. "Silent, desiring sleep, unable to close eyes" indicates that the pathogen may be in the Yin or Yang levels, causing restlessness in both recumbency and activity. This disease involves parasites; when they move upon smelling food odor, they cause mental distress, leading to anorexia and aversion to food smells. Fluctuating facial colors (red, black, white) result from parasites disturbing stomach qi, which manifests on the face, hence the lack of fixed complexion. "Huo" erodes the upper throat, causing initial hoarseness due to toxin in the throat. "Hu" erodes the lower yin/genitals, causing initial throat dryness due to toxin in the yin. External treatments like Kushen Tang and Xionghuang San to detoxify and kill parasites are reasonable. Internal use of Gancao Xiexin Tang is likely a transcription error, but it is retained here for reference.

Cheng Lin stated: "The Ling Shu Jing records: 'Parasite movement causes mental oppression,' thus explaining symptoms like restlessness."
Li [Name Missing] stated: "The throat, anus, and anterior yin are all passages connected to body fluids and moistened areas, so parasites often erode these sites."
