[Prescription Verse] Tuo Chuang (Scalp Ringworm/Tinea Capitis) is caused by wind-heat transforming into parasites; it causes unbearable itching but no pain. White crusts like coins appear within the hair. It is appropriate to take Tongsheng San and apply Ling Gao externally.
[Annotation] This condition presents with white crusts growing on the head, small ones like bean grains and large ones like coins. Colloquially known as Qian Xuan (Coin Ringworm), also named Fei Chuang (Greasy Scab), it mostly occurs on the heads of children. It causes unbearable itching but no pain. Over time, it spreads to form patches, causing hair to become brittle and fall out, resulting in Tuo Chuang (Bald Scalp), also known as Lai Tou Chuang (Leprous Head Scab). It is caused by accumulated heat in the Stomach Meridian generating wind. It is appropriate to use the ingredients of Fangfeng Tongsheng San, soak them in pure wine, bake until dry, and grind into a fine powder. Take one qian or two qians per dose, adjusted according to the patient's constitution. Mix with plain boiled water and take after meals. The sign of efficacy is excessive sweating on the head after taking the medicine. For early-stage Fei Chuang, it is appropriate to apply Fei You Gao; long-term use yields significant effects. For established Tuo Chuang, first wash the crusts clean with a decoction of Ai Ye (Artemisia argyi Leaf) and Ge Fen (Dove Droppings); then wash with pork broth, followed by applying Zhi Zhu Hua You (Rhododendron Flower Oil) to kill parasites and disperse wind. When parasites die, itching stops; when wind disperses, hair regenerates; when blood circulation flows, skin becomes moist. Long-term application is very effective.
