若出现发热、无汗的症状,适宜使用华盖散通过发汗来疏散邪气;
如果肺气原本虚弱,外部又遭受风寒伤害的,适宜使用紫苏饮子通过补益兼发散的方法治疗;
如果肺气虚弱,外部没有风寒侵袭,内部也没有痰涎壅塞,仅仅是气逆导致气喘急促的,
使用加减苏子降气汤以降逆气,其喘息自然痊愈,医者应当仔细辨别。

Wind-cold pathogenic factors invading the Lung causing rapid asthma, if accompanied by exterior heat and absence of sweating, Huagai Fang (Crown Covering Decoction) should be used; for cases where Lung Qi is deficient and invaded by pathogenic factors, Zisu Yin (Perilla Leaf Infusion) is indicated; for cases without external pathogens but only with rebellious Qi and asthma, Jiangqi Tang (Descending Qi Decoction) is indicated.
[Note]
The Lung governs the skin and hair. Once invaded by wind-cold, it causes internal closure of Lung Qi, leading to rebellious Qi that fails to descend and rapid breathing, thus forming asthma.
If fever and absence of sweating are present, it is appropriate to use Huagai San (Crown Covering Powder) to disperse the pathogen through sweating.
If Lung Qi was originally deficient and subsequently injured by external wind-cold, it is appropriate to use Zisu Yin Zi (Perilla Leaf Infusion) to tonify while dispersing.
If Lung Qi is deficient, there is no external wind-cold invasion, no internal phlegm-fluid accumulation, but only rebellious Qi causing rapid asthma,
Jiangqi Tang modified with Su Zi (Perilla Seed Descending Qi Decoction) should be used to subdue rebellious Qi, after which the asthma will naturally resolve. Physicians must examine this carefully.
(Huagai San) Formula see "Wind-Cold Cough" chapter.
(Zisu Yin Zi) Ingredients: Zisu Ye (Perilla Leaf), Xingren (Apricot Seed, stir-fried, peel and tip removed), Sang Bai Pi (Mulberry Root Bark, stir-fried), Chen Pi (Aged Tangerine Peel), Qing Pi (Green Tangerine Peel, vinegar-fried), Ban Xia (Pinellia Tuber, vinegar-processed), Renshen (Ginseng Root), Wuweizi (Schisandra Fruit), Gancao (Licorice Root, raw), Mahuang (Ephedra Herb). Decoct with ginger water as a guide.
(Verse for Prescription)
When Qi deficiency is compounded by wind-cold injury, Zisu Yin Zi is most appropriate;
It contains Perilla Leaf, Apricot Seed, Mulberry Root Bark, Aged Tangerine Peel, Green Tangerine Peel, Pinellia Tuber, along with Ginseng Root, Schisandra Fruit, Licorice Root, and Ephedra Herb.
(Su Zi Jiang Qi Tang / Perilla Seed Descending Qi Decoction) Ingredients: Su Zi (Perilla Seed, stir-fried), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root), Chen Pi (Aged Tangerine Peel), Ban Xia (Pinellia Tuber, ginger-processed), Gancao (Licorice Root, raw), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix), Houpo (Magnolia Bark, ginger-processed), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart), Chenxiang (Aquilaria Lignum). Decoct with ginger and jujube water as a guide.
(Verse for Prescription)
For rebellious Qi causing asthma, use Jiangqi Tang; it is best taken when Lung Qi is deficient without pathogens;
It contains Perilla Seed, Angelica Sinensis Root, Aged Tangerine Peel, Pinellia Tuber, Licorice Root, along with Peucedani Radix, Magnolia Bark, Cinnamon Twig Heart, and Aquilaria Lignum.

Chapter on Asthma Syndrome
Phlegm-fluid accumulation and rebellion cause asthma; for phlegm-fluid induced asthma, Sutan Gun Tan Wan (Perilla and Lepidium Scouring Phlegm Pill) is used; for fluid retention causing rapid asthma preventing lying flat, Xie Yin Jiang Ni Su Ting Wan (Draining Fluid and Subduing Rebellion Perilla and Lepidium Pill) is effective.
[Note]
In children, asthma caused by phlegm-fluid results from phlegm congestion and Qi rebellion. The sound is loud like tidal waves, and the voice resembles sawing wood.
Urgent attack on phlegm congestion is required, with Su Ting Gun Tan Wan (Perilla and Lepidium Scouring Phlegm Pill) as the primary treatment.
If fluid retention causes rapid asthma preventing lying flat, Xie Yin Jiang Ni Su Ting Wan (Draining Fluid and Subduing Rebellion Perilla and Lepidium Pill) should be used to drain fluids and subdue rebellion.
Physicians must differentiate and treat accordingly to accurately address the condition.
(Su Ting Gun Tan Wan / Perilla and Lepidium Scouring Phlegm Pill) Formula see "Food Stagnation Cough" chapter.
(Su Ting Wan / Perilla and Lepidium Pill) Ingredients: Nan Su Zi (Southern Perilla Seed, stir-fried) and Ku Ting Li Zi (Bitter Lepidium Seed) in equal parts (lightly stir-fried). Grind the above into fine powder, mix with steamed jujube flesh to form pills,
the size of sesame seeds. Take 5 to 7 pills per dose, administered with light ginger soup.
