The "Treatise on Taking Minerals" states: Jin Ye Hua Shen Dan (Golden Fluid Splendid Divine Pill) has no contraindications and can treat myriad diseases. Jin Ye Hua Shen Dan was originally a secret formula of Taishang Zhenren Jiuyuanzi (Supreme True Man Jiuyuanzi). The preparation of this medicine is not known by ordinary people. It is merely that the Five Yin (Five Yin organs/energies) urge each other, the Four Seasons rotate, and all living things suddenly vanish like flowing water. The sages of old pitied this and shed tears; the worthies of past ages witnessed it and aroused majesty. Moved by this, it was passed down to secular times to save the sick among the common people, so that all who were ill could be cured. As for diseases that corrode the intestines, they are eliminated upon encountering the medicine; ailments in the Gaohuang (deep-seated critical areas) are all healed. Every minute detail is addressed, every layer of muscle and tissue is covered. This medicine's power has the efficacy of surpassing lightning. The Five Stones (a category of mineral drugs causing heat-cold imbalance) are fundamentally different from Da Yin (Extreme Cold pathogen), just as autumn frost falls—what difference does it make between pine, bamboo, orchid, and mugwort? Whatever harms humans is removed within days. Damage to skin and muscles is dispelled in due time. If one takes this medicine, it differs from the usual; regardless of stale or cold foods, including blood meats, fish, garlic, vinegar-slicked foods, pork, deer, etc., eating them together simultaneously is only beneficial if taken in abundance, with absolutely no taboos. The medication's treatment of diseases is described below.
Humans receive the Qi of the Five Constants (Wu Chang), and thus are not uniform in constitution. Some suffer from chronic cold stagnation and infantile malnutrition (Gan Ji), with dry and withered head and face, scorched and dried body, leaving only skin covering bones. Food is not digested; rice grains pass out whole. Additionally, they suffer from phlegm-fluid retention in the heart and diaphragm, losing taste for food. Even after eating, they suffer from foul qi filling the chest and throat, often vomiting cold froth. At night while sleeping, the throat and tongue become dry, with peeling mucosa on the tongue surface; they dream of thunder and lightning. Or they dream of crossing mountains and seas, feeling aversion during sleep, with sore and painful hands and feet, and oppression in the back and shoulders. Fei Shi (Flying Corpse disease), Za Zhu (Miscellaneous Transmission disease), Zhong E sudden death, lower back pain, and cold knees occur, flaring up on cloudy days. Or they suffer from Wu Lao Qi Shang (Five Exhaustions and Seven Injuries), cold-bi-dampness obstruction. There are also men, women, monks, nuns, widows, and young girls who dream of sexual intercourse with spirits and ghosts. Initially resembling a person newly infected, they feel ashamed and do not speak; later they hide it and do not tell. After a long period of interaction, ghostly qi entangles the body, internal diseases form. Because they pity the "ghostly affection," they die without escaping the entanglement of demonic evil qi. They sleep much and sit little, dreams fly wildly, soul and spirit scatter, they are constantly drowsy and tired, appearing recovered but relapsing. All those who read and recite classics often inhale cold qi; cold qi rushes to the heart, borborygmus roars in the abdomen and intestines like thunder. Furthermore, there are 120 types of wind diseases, 10 types of water diseases, and dysentery with red and white stools. For those suffering for many years without cure, this pill treats them all. The preparation of this medicine is such that Daoists know its wonders; one must measure one's own nature, estimate one's labor and rest, and adjust temporarily to entrust its efficacy. You gentlemen of prescriptions should not lightly leak this secret; keep it more confidential.
Now according to: The method of administration and corresponding treatments can follow the methods of various pills. However, the main indications for each drug state: some take one or two pills, some take four or five pills; stop when the illness improves. This is not a longevity-promoting pill. Do not take too much, etc.
