The *Chan Jing* (Classic of Childbirth) states: A prescription for treating headache in pediatric cold damage (*Xiao'er Shanghan*):
Raw Pueraria Juice (*Sheng Ge Zhi*, 6 liang) Bamboo Sap (*Zhu Li*, 6 liang).
These two substances are mixed and boiled. For a child aged two or three, divide into three doses.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Prescriptions by Master Ge) states: A prescription for treating pediatric sudden onset of unknown illness, characterized by pain and unconsciousness, with breath seemingly ceased as if dead:
Obtain the blood from the comb of a rooster. Cut it above the infant's mouth to let the blood flow, dripping it into the infant's mouth; once it enters the throat, life is restored.
The *Zimu Milu* (Secret Record of Mother and Child) states: Extremely salty salt water decoction, one sheng per dose. Inducing vomiting restores life.
Another prescription: Mix hot water with plant ash, apply as a compress/poultice to restore life.
The *Fan Wang Fang* (Prescriptions by Fan Wang) states: Take one ball of fresh horse manure, wring out the juice and swallow it; the infant recovers upon swallowing.
The *Bing Yuan Lun* (Treatise on the Origins and Manifestations of Diseases) states: The term "Zhu" (Catching/Stationary) means to stay or remain, referring to wind-pathogenic qi remaining within the human body.
The *Qian Jin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) states: Take three finger-pinches of ash from the kitchen chimney, mix equally with salt powder, and administer orally.
The *Bing Yuan Lun* states: From birth, through the process of *Bian Zheng* (physiological fever/growth changes), until capable of speech, the meridians, bones, and joints develop completely according to the days passed. When the patella forms, the child can walk; bones are nourished by marrow. If congenital Qi and Blood are insufficient, the marrow cannot become strong and solid, thus the bones do not develop immediately, resulting in an inability to walk after several years.
The *Qian Jin Fang* states: Secretly take rice from a mourning household while the door is still unsealed at that time, and feed it to the infant. Within three days, the child will be able to walk; do not let others know. (Current commentary: The *Duan Ju Fang* suggests taking it at dusk, administering three times daily, and the child will soon stand and walk.)
The *Bing Yuan Lun* states: The five internal organs correspond to five vocalizations; the sound of the Spleen is speech. If a child aged four or five cannot speak, it is because during gestation, the mother suddenly experienced fright or terror, which internally affected the fetal organs. Pathogenic qi took advantage of this weakness to invade the Spleen, causing Disharmony of Spleen Qi.
The *Qian Jin Fang* states: Moxibustion on three points above both ankles (three moxa cones each).
Another prescription: Powder Red Bean (*Chi Xiao Dou*), mix with wine, and apply to under the tongue.
The *Bing Yuan Lun* states: When an infant presents with yellowish complexion, straight/hair standing, frequent high fever, and food intake failing to generate flesh/nourishment, persisting over months and years leading to death, this is called "Wugu" (Innocent/Guiltless). It refers to a bird in heaven named Wugu, which hides by day and roams by night. If infants' clothes and mats are washed and exposed overnight, this bird flies overhead, takes these items for the infant to wear and sleep on, thereby causing the infant to contract this disease.
The *Cui Shilang Fang* (Prescriptions by Official Cui) states: Boil powdered Rhubarb (*Da Huang*) with vinegar to make pills; administration is highly effective.
