According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Symptoms of All Diseases): In winter, children are injured by cold qi in their skin and muscles. The cold qi contends with blood and qi, causing stagnation and obstruction of blood and qi, which leads to the formation of sores. These sores are swollen and difficult to heal, potentially progressing to rotting of the skin and flesh, known as frostbite chapped sores (Dongzhu Chuang).
According to the *Chan Jing*: When children wade in water during winter, their hands and feet freeze, leading to frostbite, ulceration, and pain. Formula:
Take wheat straw, boil it until thick and hot, and wash/soak the affected area (this will lead to recovery).
Another formula: Use ash from oak wood mixed with hot water (extract the clear juice) to wash the affected area; this is effective.
From the *Qianjin Fang*: Crush fresh sesame seeds and apply them as a poultice.
According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun*: Regardless of gender or age, individuals who have a constitution intolerant to lacquer may develop lacquer poisoning upon exposure to lacquer or newly lacquered vessels. This causes swelling of the head, body, face, and limbs, accompanied by hidden rashes that are red in color, forming sores with itching and pain.
According to the *Chan Jing*: To treat children who have come into contact with lacquered vessels, resulting in swelling of the face and eyes, and sores on the body that ulcerate:
Chew [specific substance] and apply to the affected area. (Note: "KT" appears to be a textual corruption or specific abbreviation in the source text; literal translation provided).
Another formula: Dissolve Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) or Fanshi (Alumen) one by one in salt water, and use this solution to wash the affected area.
Another formula: Wash the affected area with decoction of willow leaves.
Another formula: Crush Xiebai (Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus) and apply to the affected area.
From the *Qianjin Fang*: Crush Liye (Pyrus communis Leaf) and apply as a poultice.
Another formula: Mix Tu (earth/dust) from swallow nests with Sujiangcao (Oxalis corniculata) to form a paste for application; change when dry.
According to the *Chan Jing*: At the initial stage of onset, grind Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu) with water and apply to the affected area.
Another formula: Burn Lujiao (Cervi Cornu Degelatinatum) to ash, mix with Cu (Vinegar), and apply as a poultice.
Another formula: Mix Xiaodou xie (powdered Vigna angularis) with Cu (Vinegar) and apply as a poultice.
Another formula: Chew Damai fan (barley rice porridge/residue) and apply as a poultice.
Another formula: Mix Hufen (Cerussa/Lead Carbonate) with Shengyou (raw oil) and apply to the affected area.
According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun*: Sores appearing on the body are all caused by heat from the internal organs rushing outward, combined with external Wind-Dampness contending together. If the Wind-Dampness Qi carries Heat-Toxin, the sores become painful, itchy, and swollen, failing to heal for a long time; this is named Echuang (Malignant Sores).
From the *Chan Jing*: Burn Shedai (Ophiopogon japonicus? No, typically She Tui - Snake Slough) to powder, mix with Zhugao (Porci Adipis), and apply as a poultice.
Another formula: Roast Douchi (Fermented Soybean) until yellow, grind into powder, and apply to the affected area.
From the *Jiyan Fang*: Wash the father's body, collect the wash water, and bathe the infant with it. Do not let the infant or mother know; this is highly effective.
From the *Ge Shi Fang*: Burn Luannian (human hair tangles) and Fuxia Tu (soot from the bottom of the cauldron), mix with Zhugao (Porci Adipis), and apply as a poultice.
Another formula: Apply dust collected from roof beams to the affected area.
Another formula: Grind Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Hufen (Cerussa), and Shuiyin (Hydrargyrum) into powder, mix, and apply. If the sore is dry, mix with Zhufang (Porcine Fat) and apply.
From the *Suishi Fang*: Take water from holes in mulberry trees to wash the affected area; immediate recovery occurs.
From the *Fan Wang Fang*: Burn Jishi (Galli Gigerii Endothelium Corneum) and apply to the affected area.
