The *Chan Jing* (Canon of Childbirth) states: For treating wind-strike in children causing redness, ulceration, and itching of the eyes, persisting for a year without healing, the Qingtong San (Bronze Powder Powder) formula is as follows:
Take one hundred large copper coins, decoct them in three sheng of good wine until the liquid evaporates, scrape off the residue, sieve it, and apply a small amount into the eye.
The *Chan Jing* states: For treating children with visual obstruction (nebula), regardless of age, even when they reach seven or eight years old and the pupil remains turbid and unstable, do not casually apply Shiyi San (Food Nebula Powder).
Instead, apply only Huhu San (Coral Powder), taking an amount the size of a millet seed to apply on the nebula, twice daily.
Another formula: It is suitable to apply only Maké San (Musk/Amber Powder - *Note: 'Ma Ke' often refers to Amber or Musk in ancient texts, here likely Amber given context of eye issues, but literal translation used*), all finely ground, and mixed with thick honey. (Sieve through silk before use.)
The *Bing Yuan Lun* (Treatise on the Origins and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Some people have clear vision during the day but cannot see objects at dusk, termed Que Mu (Bird's Eye/Night Blindness), meaning like birds and sparrows, they see nothing when it gets dark.
The *Qian Jin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) states: At dusk, look at where sparrows roost, startle them so they fly up, then chant the spell: "Chai Gong, I return blindness to you, you return sight to me." Do this three times over three nights, and the eyes will become clear. This is a secret method.
The *Chan Jing* states: Locate the definite roosting place of sparrows, startle them at night, saying: "Sparrow, remove your eyes." Do this for three consecutive days, and it will heal.
Another formula: Take seven soybeans and one rice ear, place these two items facing a mouse hole at dusk, saying: "Lord Hole, Lord Hole, I greatly desire to obtain the ability of Bird's Eye, because I cannot see at night, thus I want your eyes; if you agree to give them, I shall acquire your eyes." After chanting three times, place the rice ear at the entrance of the hole, and say: "I have obtained the eyes of a mouse, able to see in the dark night." Place the beans and rice ear by the mouse burrow and rise to leave. Do this for three nights. Effective. This is a secret technique.
The *Xin Lu Fang* (Newly Recorded Formulas) states: Applying bile from carp or crucian carp externally is beneficial.
The *Chan Jing* states: Put pig lard into the nostrils, inhale gently while moving the eyes left and right, then close the eyes and lie down to sleep. After a short while, the blurred vision will no longer be perceived. This has been verified.
Another formula: In the early morning, face the door, kneel, bow, and say: "The door is too narrow, insufficient to lodge guests." The illness will heal.
Another formula: Swallow one piece of silkworm feces (Can Sha), which will then be excreted.
