Dysentery was anciently known as "Zhi Xia" (Stagnant Downward). White discharge is called Bai Mo (White Mucus); red discharge is called Chi Li (Red Dysentery); mixed red and white is called Nong Xue (Pus and Blood). Red indicates Heat; White indicates Cold. Red involves the Blood level; White involves the Qi level. [Note: The middle section of the source text appears fragmented or corrupted regarding ancient theories on Earth/Soil and Yin/Yang, skipping to clinical application]. Pathogens not yet extinguished... [Fragmented text omitted for coherence]. Physicians treat Heat... limb coldness... using Xin Liang Jie Biao (Acrid-Cool Surface-Resolving) methods. I treat Nué (Malaria) by differentiating according to the Six Channels' patterns before prescribing medication, never rigidly adhering to Chai Hu Tang (Bupleurum Decoction) alone. In summary, methods suitable for releasing the exterior, dispersing, clearing heat, or warming must be determined based on Yin/Yang and Interior/Exterior conditions. This is the general principle. As for the art of modification, it lies in the clinician's judgment during consultation.
Treats dysentery, regardless of red, white, pus, or blood, accompanied by Tenesmus (Li Ji Hou Zhong), fever, abdominal pain, and difficult defecation.
